I received a rather dodgy phone call the other day, with a voice that had a distinct Indian accent. The caller claimed to be from BT, warning me that my Internet was at risk of disconnection due to some suspicious activities they had supposedly detected. She then inquired about how many devices I had connected to my network. I told her straight that I wasn’t buying her story and that I’d hang up and contact BT myself. In a panic, she insisted my Internet would be cut off imminently, to which I replied that I was fine with that and would be reaching out to BT directly afterwards. Conveniently, the line then went silent. When I tried ringing back, the number turned out to be ‘unknown’. Quite the scam, I’d say!
