What’s the reason behind their calls?

Had a couple of calls on my home phone earlier today, but they hung up the moment I picked up. That number's been blocked now!

Received a dodgy call purporting to be from Amazon, insisting that an iPhone 11 had been charged to my account for a whopping £799. They wanted me to press 1 to speak to an operator. Come on, who’s still purchasing iPhone 11s when the 13 is out? It’s hardly worth my time!

The call managed to slip past the screening process. I tried to get in touch again, but the line was disconnected almost instantly.

Received a call from someone claiming to represent Amazon, alleging there was an issue with a dodgy order. Total scam alert!

Received a call earlier today that I completely bypassed. Clearly, it's for the best that I did!

I received a phone call informing me that I had mistakenly overpaid on my account and that they needed to process a refund of £300. They wanted to verify my bank details, such as my account number, roll number, and the three-digit security code from the back of my card. It felt very suspicious—definitely a potential scam!

I let the phone ring without answering, and there was no voicemail afterwards.

I received a recorded call, supposedly from Amazon, claiming they had detected unusual activity on my account and urging me to press #1 for further details. However, once I heard that, I decided to disconnect.

I received a rather persuasive call from a woman asserting that we had outstanding tax obligations and that we'd be dragged to court in Birmingham. Quite amusing, considering we reside in London! She was all too familiar with the particulars of a past matter we had with HMRC that had been sorted years ago. This clearly signals a serious breach of HMRC’s data security, with scammers peddling this information for their nefarious gains. They’re using this number alongside another dodgy one: 01332 622 600, both of which are attempts to pass off their tricks as legitimate communication. It’s utterly phoney and a prime example of fraud. Whatever you do, stay vigilant and don’t engage with these con artists!

I received a voicemail that claimed to be from HM Revenue, mentioning there were problems related to my national insurance number. The caller then requested my name, but just as I was about to respond, the line went dead. Quite suspicious if you ask me!
