Today I had a call from someone claiming to be Life Insure. They started asking loads of questions, which I refused to answer. Since I’m on the TPS list, I pushed them hard to explain where they’d got my info from. They kept dodging, saying I’d apparently dealt with some insurance firm in the last six years and that there were “issues” with my policy. I gave her a piece of my mind, but she kept insisting she just needed 30 seconds. Again I asked for the details of their mailing list provider, but she said she didn’t know. When I asked for a supervisor, they put me through to a bloke who said the caller was new and still wouldn’t give me a straight answer, but promised to take me off their records. I’m reporting this to TPS because it’s annoying how these calls keep slipping through. Seriously, watch out and don’t get roped in by these types - they’re pushy and trying to catch out anyone who’s less careful. Some real scumbags. Caller ID: Life Insure.

This number showed up on my caller ID today. The caller immediately asked for me by name, which I guess is normal in business calls. They started talking about life insurance, trying to check if I was overpaying. I told them I was fine and didn’t need anything new. Then they droned on and even mentioned my old address - I moved recently, so that caught my attention. When I asked who they were with, they gave a vague answer, saying something like “We work with all the big companies,” and rattled off some big names without actually saying who they represented. The guy was polite but really pushy, trying to set up an appointment for tomorrow, even though he clearly didn’t know my exact location. To me, that just means they’re fishing for info, not a legit business call - usually they’d check your address before offering an appointment. They already know your name, number, and address, so be careful. Keep an eye on your credit score and bank statements, because it’s always about money with these calls. I don’t have any debts, thankfully. The caller sounded like he was in his twenties, maybe from the West Midlands, with a hint of an Asian accent, and spoke really quickly.

Got a call from a bloke named Jason claiming to be from Lifeinsure. Somehow he already had my full name, where I live, and my DOB. When I mentioned how much I pay for life insurance, he reckoned it sounded quite pricey and said one of their consultants might give me a ring to take a look at it. I set it up for a callback, but honestly, I’m a bit suspicious now, so I don’t think I’ll be picking up when they call. - caller: Jason, Lifeinsure

Like I said before, they never got back to me with a call. I'm really hoping this isn’t some kinda dodgy scam.

Got a call earlier from someone saying they were from Lloyds Insurance. I told them I don't have any accounts with Lloyds. Then the person quickly said they weren't actually from Lloyds before I ended the call. Pretty confusing! Caller claimed to be Lloyds Insurance.

Got a call from someone claiming to be about life insurance for my stepson. He wasn’t home and the bloke kept pushing to speak to him. I said he’s not interested and not here but he kept insisting he speak to him. Eventually, I told him my stepson wasn’t around and to stop calling back. The caller ignored that and said he would ring again. I mentioned we’d already blocked calls like this a while back but he said we’re on some automatic list and when I asked to be removed, he flat out refused and hinted we’d get more calls. Managed to get their number and passed it on to BT. The caller had a proper Scouse accent. - Caller: Life Insurance company.

Got a ring from this number and somehow they already knew my name and where I live! Mind you, we're on the TPS list.

Got a call on my mobile from some muppet chatting about life insurance. It threw me a bit since she actually knew my surname, but I didn’t hang about and ended the call pretty quick. Absolute rubbish, total scoundrels. - caller: life insure

I've had calls from this number on a few occasions now. I usually ignore numbers I don’t recognise, thinking if it’s urgent, they’ll leave a message. But nope, they just keep ringing back. It’s odd they always pick evenings to call. Makes me wonder how they got my number since I’m supposed to be unlisted.

My partner took a call out of the blue from a man asking about our life insurance. He didn’t bother to say who he was and kept pushing questions. He somehow already knew our last name. During the chat, which went on for quite a while, he was digging into whether we had a mortgage, how much it was worth and details about our life cover. Eventually, my partner ended the call politely. But afterwards, she realised she’d accidentally shared four bits of info: our surname, that we’ve got a mortgage, how much it’s for, and that we hold life insurance. This shouldn’t have happened because we’re registered with the Telephone Preference Service and our details are unlisted. If anyone else has had this sort of call, I’d recommend you do this: Check your status with TPS and if you're registered, ask for a complaints form about this caller. There will be an automated message at first - just wait till it’s done, then you can speak to the complaints department. The TPS contact number is 0845 07 007 07. If you’re not on TPS, you should sign up right away using that number. And if annoying calls keep coming, ask for a complaints form and send it in.

Got a call from someone looking for Mr or Mrs with my last name, so they clearly knew who I was. They started going on about life insurance, but I told them we’re already covered and not interested. They wouldn’t take no for an answer, so I just cut the call. Even though we’re on the TPS list, these pesky callers don’t seem to care one bit. When I asked who it was, they just stayed silent. What a pain!

They keep ringing me over and over with this number, like several times daily. I never pick up, but I do use 1471 straight away once it stops ringing. It's really starting to get on my nerves, especially since I'm ex-directory! - caller: Unknown

Got the same calls here, twice today actually. I made it clear they’re not wanted on my line. They apparently tried reaching me before too, back on 14/11/2014. I’ve reported them to the TPS as well, since I’m definitely on the no sales calls register.

Got a call asking for Mr or Mrs X, but there’s definitely no Mrs X here. They claimed it was about some life insurance. I just said no thanks and hung up straight away.

They rang me without leaving a message, then tried calling again but kept their number hidden. When I answered, there was a recorded voice saying something about life insurance. I didn’t catch everything, but it sounded like they were trying to get me to reclaim some wrongly sold insurance. I’m on the TPS, so I don’t think they’re allowed to ring me like this.

I don’t get it, I signed up with the TPS ages ago, so why do these annoying calls keep coming through? It’s so frustrating!

They keep ringing me all day long but I’m stuck at work so I can’t answer. No messages are left on my voicemail either, and when I try to return the call, it just won’t go through.

Got a call with no voicemail, then they rang me back but kept their number hidden. There was a recorded message saying something about life insurance, something along the lines of reclaiming insurance that was missold. I didn't catch everything, but it sounds like one of those calls trying to get you to claim back. I’m on the TPS list, so they really shouldn’t be contacting me like this.
