I was somewhat taken aback when I received a brief invitation regarding investments lasting all of five seconds. To be clear, we've never shown any interest or asked for such proposals!

Today, I received a call from this number. When I picked up, a pre-recorded female voice prompted me to press 5 if I wished to confirm my payment protection refund, or 9 should I prefer to decline. It then urged me once more to hit 5 to learn about the amount I'm supposedly owed. Frankly, I don't have any payment protection refund coming my way at all!

They attempted to fish for my IP address and serial number. Subsequently, I reached out to the authorities to lodge a report about the incident. This occurred on the 20th of August, 2015, at around 15:40.

Earlier today, I got a call from 0121 024 0540 during my lunch break. I chose not to pick up since I’ve decided to ignore any unfamiliar numbers from now on. If it was a legitimate call, surely they'd drop me a text? But they didn’t, which speaks volumes. After perusing some of the comments here, I’m relieved I didn’t engage with that call. That number has definitely been added to my list of suspicious callers.

The phone rings only a few times before the call just cuts off, which is pretty frustrating. At least now I recognise the number and can just block it out. Fingers crossed it doesn’t charge me for those dropped calls!

Honestly, the smartest move when dealing with these types is to ask them loads of questions about what they're selling or whatever, let them waffle on a bit... then just end the call. They’re all about the clock, so if you chew up their time, it cuts down how much scamming they can do.

Got a call just now, and the person said it was about those annoying telemarketing calls! So funny. I asked where she was based, and she said London. Then I asked what the weather's like there, and she just hung up! Honestly, the best move with these calls is to keep them chatting as long as you can since they’re the ones footing the bill.

Got a call on my number, sounded like the typical PPI scam stuff. I played along and said I was actually in Mexico at that moment. They ended the call super fast after that! Bit amusing how quick they dropped it.

Sometimes I answer and there’s nobody on the line, other times it’s this automated woman talking - definitely sounds like one of those PPI scams.

Calls that go unanswered or abruptly end are nothing short of dodgy! I'd strongly recommend reporting such nonsense to the proper channels. I've come across people who've encountered these con artists shifting their tactics; one minute they’re masquerading as a Microsoft tech support representative, the next they're attempting to gain remote access to your computer. If you fall for it, your device could easily become one of those so-called 'zombie computers', used to unleash all sorts of malicious activities on unsuspecting victims. Just steer clear of it!

I’ve also been inundated with calls from the number 0012102490540, typically following a barrage of redial attempts-sometimes several in quick succession-showing a CLI of “unknown.” On one occasion, they rang again but with a slightly altered CLI: 012102490540, which clearly indicates some sort of CLI spoofing in play. Additionally, my wife has been harassed by incessant calls and letters regarding a Southern Water bill belonging to someone with her name and date of birth. Southern Water has openly admitted in an online FOI response that they do not verify the identity of customers upon opening accounts. Their communications come through both “EOS Solutions” and “UK Search Ltd,” leading me to suspect that these calls may originate from an agent of the latter. We have informed Southern Water that this bill pertains to another individual. I’ve configured my system to disregard withheld numbers, and I let calls go to answerphone through my provider. I don't engage with 00* numbers or 012102490540. This unsettling situation has persisted for roughly a year now. In short, it appears the number may be linked to a call centre, possibly a debt collection agency precursor, fishing for responses from callee. They previously mentioned sending someone to visit, yet they seem unable or unwilling to resolve the matter properly. I need to lodge a complaint with the FCA, but I've been tracking this harassment for a prolonged period and can’t spare the resources to print out my logs and the letters I've received.
