After struggling with voice sync issues on Amazon Prime and YouTube via my Virgin Media setup last week, I got a call from a man with an Asian accent claiming to be from Virgin. He said he was aware of the problem and asked about the devices we used, then told me to switch on my laptop. But having been through something similar about 18 months ago, I immediately felt suspicious and told him to buzz off. The number he called from today was 0120 824 7036, but last time I checked, it traced back to somewhere in India. Looking back, I should have guessed it wasn’t really Virgin since their support is terrible and they wouldn’t bother calling you anyway. Still, I think Virgin have some serious security gaps, probably because they outsource their support to India.

They claimed to be from Virgin and asked for my personal info. I told them they must have dialed me first, so it’s up to them to give the details. Then, suddenly, they just ended the call.

A guy with an Asian accent called claiming to be from Virgin Media in the end. Honestly, his voice was so slow and dragged out, like he was on some kind of sedative or something. Took me no time at all to realise it was dodgy. I find it kinda messes them up if I ask "who is this?" instead of just saying "hello".

Somebody rang me claiming to be from Virgin Media's tech support. She tried to guide me through some "security checks" and said my internet was under attack. When I asked her for proof that she was legit, she just cut me off.

Got a call from some bloke who claimed he was calling on behalf of Virgin, saying there was a big issue with my internet. I told him he was talking rubbish and that I was about to end the call. Then he just said alright and put the phone down.

Got a call from this number claiming to be from Virgin Media, saying my internet was hacked. When I asked for his name to check with Virgin Media myself, he said he was "Vancock." I told him I’ve got a degree in IT and then he just hung up!

I got a phone call from 01208247036 a bit ago, they were asking if I was having issues with my internet. They started asking about my online banking and if I own a computer, laptop, phone, tablet or even an iPad. I didn’t confirm anything, just kept quiet really. Then they said they’d ask me some security questions next, but I just ended the call straight away.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, said their engineers spotted some dodgy stuff on my line. I quickly told them I wasn't interested in their 'help' and threatened to report them to the cops. They weren't too pleased with that!

Some bloke with a really strong Asian accent called, introducing himself as ‘David’ - yeah, right! Claimed he was from Virgin Media trying to ‘check up’ on my internet. Yeah, as if! Definitely a dodgy call, total SCAM. Don’t fall for it!

The second I asked if they were from the hospital I was expecting a call from, they just ended the call. Guess they had at least a tiny bit of decency. Definitely a spam call, might even be harmful. Best to stay clear.
