Adding on to what I mentioned before about that call claiming to be from TalkTalk, I found it strange the number had a UK area code 01207 but the accent made me think the caller was abroad. After a quick search, I came across a site called Virteluk which lets you pick a 01207 Consett virtual number that makes it look like you’re local, even if you’re actually working from somewhere else. Seems like they use that to fool folks into thinking the call is genuine.

Got a call the other day from a noisy call centre, and the guy had a heavy accent. He said he was from TalkTalk but was quite pushy at first, insisting I had to speak to him. Couldn't make out what the call was about because of all the noise and his accent, so I just ended up hanging up. I've heard of a few scams linked to TalkTalk before, and from my own experience, when TalkTalk genuinely calls, it's always from a UK centre with polite staff and no background racket.
