Got a call from someone claiming to be from the Covid-19 Helpdesk. The accent made me think it was one of those Indian call centres. They started asking questions about my life insurance. Definitely a scam, although they wouldn’t own up to it when I confronted them. Felt a bit risky to be honest.

Totally a SCAM! If you get any dodgy calls or texts, make sure you log them with the police fraud centre. Just search ‘action fraud’ and head over to the ‘police.uk’ website. There’s a section called ‘report a phishing attempt’ where you can find all the info you need. Take some time to read it properly, then put in all the details about the scam, including any links or website addresses. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you actually lost money in the scam. The police can only track these fraud attempts if loads of us report them, so don’t ignore it!

Got a call from an Asian bloke whose English was barely understandable - I had to ask him multiple times to speak proper English. He was saying he had to update my details for the NHS about a Covid jab. I told him the NHS already has all my info, so clearly this was some dodgy scam. Total lie.

I made it clear I wasn’t interested and the bloke turned rude, so I just ended the call. This is actually the second time they’ve called me this week.

There’s a couple of posts about what to do if you want to put a stop to these scammers ripping off vulnerable people and pestering the rest of us. It’s a bit of a faff, but I’ve been reporting scam calls and texts straight to the police database (I’ve got the link bookmarked). Sadly, it needs thousands of us reporting for any real change to happen, and loads of people report scam calls here daily. Don’t expect quick results though, but if no one bothers to report, these scams will just keep going on and on.

When I said I wasn’t comfortable sharing that info, they began pushing, going on about possible government grants I might miss out on or something. I'm only 18 and just got a call saying I was due £2500 and would receive it in a couple of days. They claimed I had overpaid on old loans and mortgages and then started asking for personal details to "confirm" stuff. The thing is, I've never had a mortgage or loan in my life! Definitely a dodgy call, watch out for these scams!
