I got a call from someone saying they were with Carphone Warehouse. I told them I’d had a few calls like this on UK landlines recently. Funny thing is, all the callers sounded like they were Asian men. When I mentioned I knew it was probably a scam, the guy said he could send some documents to prove he was legit. After a while, he got annoyed, told me I was wasting his time, and then just ended the call!

Got a call from some bloke pretending to be from Carphone Warehouse trying to flog me an iPhone 12 with unlimited texts, minutes and data at an absurdly cheap price. He kept pushing me for my details to make the sale but I shut him down straight away. When he asked why, I told him flat out I knew he was a dodgy scammer. He ended up shouting and snivelling for about five minutes before hanging up on me. Honestly, these scumbags are the worst.

This is the second time I’ve had a call from some call centre in India claiming to be Carphone Warehouse. The first call came from a number based in Wales, and now it was this one from Colchester. Got a call with a really strong accent, sounded like it was from abroad, maybe one of those Indian call centres even though the number showed Colchester. The guy claimed he was from Carphone Warehouse. I asked him to tell me my name and he couldn’t. Then I asked where they got my number from, and he said I had given permission. When I pointed out how that’s not possible if they don’t even know my name, he just ended the call.
