Lately, whenever I pick up their calls, I respond with: "Good day, thank you for dialling, good sir. Are you all set to settle your outstanding obligations?" To which they often retort, "What outstanding obligations? I believe it's you who owes me!" I then counter with, "Oh no, you seem to have it all wrong; it is indeed you who is in my debt!" At this juncture, they either hang up in a huff, clearly affronted that I’ve turned their tactic against them, or they become rather confrontational, saying, "This isn't a laughing matter. You owe money and will face the repercussions." To that, I reply, "Alas, it appears the pressures of your financial plight have driven you to a state of mania; you've convinced yourself that you're a debt collector!" And just like that, they usually hang up. What a bunch of lying, thieving rogues!4 yearsI received a call from a call centre abroad, yet they were using a phone number from Bolton. They pretended to represent a Tenancy Association, but as a homeowner, their spiel has nothing to do with me. I explicitly requested them to erase my number from their records.
