This whole situation goes beyond mere trickery! Professional Reclaim Services have roped in Goldman Knightley Solicitors from Manchester to hunt down my tax refund. Just today, I received a letter informing me that they’ve pocketed £200.44 - money they claimed on my behalf. I’ve repeatedly made it crystal clear during previous calls that I did not authorise them to pursue my tax matters. It seems they’ve resorted to forging my signature and somehow snagged my National Insurance number from Professional Reclaim. Currently, I’m in the process of reaching out to the GDPR authorities to look into these two firms. My advice? Steer clear of them, don’t hand over any personal details, and keep an eye on your tax affairs.

Someone rang me saying it was regarding extra tax paid on a PPI payout I supposedly got from the Royal Bank of Scotland. They claimed HMRC had taken their cut first before I got the money and they could help me recover it. But I sorted the PPI claim straight with the bank myself! No one else was involved. Definitely steer clear of this caller or company, total waste of time!

So, they wanted info from me going back to 2016, told me they were stepping in for a PPI firm I'd dealt with. At the end, they asked me to click on some link - which I’d normally just delete straight away. I didn’t click it, so now they say they’ll send me a letter instead.

He wanted all sorts of stuff like my full name, address, and details about my tax year going back to 2016. Felt really iffy about the whole thing, so I didn't share anything. I've just received a rather curious phone call. The individual on the line appeared quite credible and seemed to have a wealth of information regarding my past PPI claims. They went on to say that I might be entitled to a tax refund related to those claims. When they asked for my National Insurance number, I politely declined. Instead, I provided them with my new address and requested that they send over the details in writing. If I truly have a tax refund coming my way, I ought to be able to reclaim it directly, without them skimming off the top. If this turns out to be legitimate, I suppose I'll find out soon enough. Fingers crossed it’s not just another scam!

Got a call from someone claiming to be solicitors saying I’d paid some tax by mistake on a PPI claim. Didn’t trust it one bit and just blocked the number straight away.

Received a phone call today from a gentleman named Sam Sherrington, who claimed to represent Goldman Knightley Solicitors. He mentioned that they have been involved in legal work for Financial Justice (FJ) regarding PPI claims. I confirmed that I'd previously received refunds from FJ, and he stated that those had been mistakenly taxed by HMRC. He asked a number of questions and informed me that I should expect to hear from Goldman Knightley Solicitors again in approximately 4 to 6 weeks. I did a bit of digging on the Companies House website and they appear to be genuine. Guess I'll just have to wait and see how this unfolds!
