I’m really glad I picked up this call instead of my mum, who’s 83. If she’d got it, she’d be terrified, and even if I tried to calm her down, she’d probably be anxious for days and have trouble sleeping. I’m usually quite laid-back, but this ongoing scam really winds me up. How can they still get away with targeting innocent people like this, preying on their trust and potentially ruining their confidence? It’s just awful!

This afternoon, I got a troubling four calls (on the 26th of October '19). The voice on the line said something along the lines of, "before execution of an arrest warrant, press 1," but it sounded a bit odd, as if the beginning was cut off or something. I'm left wondering who is behind these calls and what their intentions are. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Got bombarded with 17 missed calls from this number in just a couple of days, so I finally picked up. The bloke wanted to know my grandad’s name, so I made something up. Then he asked for my birthday, and I told him I wasn’t giving it out until he explained what the call was about. Next thing he says is, “You’d better hang up, or I’ll have you arrested,” and then he just ended the call. Really thick Indian accent too. Total waste of time, proper jokers.

Today this number called me, with a robotic voice saying there’s a warrant out for my National Insurance number. It told me to press 1 to sort it out. I knew it was dodgy but pressed anyway. Then a guy with a strong Indian accent asked for my name and NI number. I told him he should know since he was the one calling me, but he replied that for security he couldn’t share that info. We argued a bit, and he told me to show more respect to an officer of Her Majesty’s Government. Realising I’d spotted the scam, he said he’d see me in court and just hung up. I’ve blocked the number now.

Over the past three days, I’ve had three calls all saying my National Insurance number's been frozen or something like that, just like others have said here. Answered none of them, just let the voicemail catch the same rubbish recorded message every time. Honestly, always best to rely on official HMRC letters instead of these dodgy calls. These lot are just out to scam, proper low.

Our number isnt even on any list and ive already had five calls today, with two voicemails! They’re threatening to come after us with a warrant, which is crazy since we haven’t done anything wrong. They said it was HMRC, told me to press 1 to speak to my agent, then called again saying there’s a lawsuit coming, and a third time threatening an Arrest Warrant if I didn’t answer. It was definitely a scam - I hung up in the middle of one of those robotic messages claiming I'd got an 'arrest warrant.' I just ignored it and got rid of the message. Unfortunately, I heard about two older people nearby who fell for it and ended up losing loads of money. Best thing is don’t pick up and just block the number. Like others have mentioned, reporting the number might help as well.

This feels like an old scam trick. I've already flagged it to Action Fraud through their phishing report section and made sure to alert folks here too. Hats off to Action Fraud for shutting down a couple of scam operations in India recently, teaming up with local authorities. But honestly, loads more are still out there and the cops can’t really do much unless we all report every dodgy call, message or email we get. Just stick to the steps they lay out on their site - it doesn’t take much longer than sharing warnings here.

Saw this number pop up but didn’t pick up, let it go to voicemail instead. The message said something about a writ against me, telling me to press 1. Of course, I’ve done nothing wrong but it’s maddening! Can’t someone put an end to these fraudsters?
