An older bloke next door has been getting repeated phone calls from this number all week. He only mentioned it to me today. Luckily, I taught him to ignore calls from numbers he doesn’t recognise or isn’t saved in his contacts. They rang him just after midnight yesterday, which is completely absurd!

I received a call yesterday. I was on the brink of answering, but just before I did, I realised the number was unfamiliar, so I let it ring through to voicemail. The moment the caller realised they had reached a voicemail and not an actual person, they swiftly ended the call.

A couple of comments down there explain how you can play your part in shutting down these cons and why just blocking numbers might not cut it. Taking a minute to report the calls is just as quick as putting it on here. We won't see an instant fix, but right now the police’re totally in the dark about how big this problem really is and what new tricks the scammers are using. If everyone who’s annoyed by these calls doesn't send a report and push their local MP to take action, nothing will shift and these crooks will keep getting away with it.

Seems like this number’s linked to someone called Bolton, but the spot it’s coming from looks more like North Berwick. It’s flagged with a 70 fraud rating and even has a red flame symbol - pretty risky stuff. It’s a VOIP line, still active and legit, but it never leaves a voicemail. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

It's the usual tax scam from India, but I wonder which phone provider is actually giving them the service? They really need to be reported and shut down. If you’ve seen the videos from Jim Brown or Scammer Payback, you'd realise just how easy it is for folks to fall for these tricks and get conned. Thankfully, there are folks out there working hard to catch these scammers and put an end to it.

Then, when he inquired about my current payment, it became evident he wasn't really affiliated with Three. So, I decided to have a bit of fun and led him on until he eventually gave up and ended the call.
