Got a call from a woman who said she was from my council, but she had a South African accent. The number showed up as being from Bolton, which is nowhere near where I live. Thought it was a bit odd since that’s not my local council at all.

I can't remember his name but he said he was with the Tenant Help Service. He actually knew my full name and where I live. The call came from 01204 200293. Honestly, his accent didn’t sound British at all. I reckon it was a con artist. He claimed he was with the government, dealing with housing issues like damp, leaks and drafts for both council and private tenants. When I told him I’ve been getting the same call every day and my reply hasn’t changed - “NO” - he said he’d take me off their list. However, while he was talking, I could hear in the background a bloke yelling insults at someone else on the other line and a woman shouting really loudly.
