I picked up the phone and some bloke started chatting about loft conversions. I said straight away I wasn’t interested but he just kept going. I had to tell him twice I wasn’t up for it. The weird thing is, how on earth did they find my number? It’s ex-directory and I hardly ever give it out. Had four calls now, all from numbers that look pretty much the same.

On Tuesday, I noticed this number rang me twice but luckily my call guard stopped them from actually reaching me. Thanks to that, they never got through.

Some bloke called me, said his name was Tom, and started going on about how the loft insulation I supposedly had put in might be harmful to the environment. I told him there wasn’t any insulation added at all, then he just repeated the same lines again. I just hung up on him. Feels like a right dodgy trick, especially for older people who might get worried thinking they did something bad.

Some bloke called saying he was ‘Tom’ and claimed the loft insulation I supposedly recently got put in was harmful to the environment. I told him I hadn’t had any installed at all, but he kept going like he was just reading a script. I ended the call right after. Definitely seemed dodgy to me. I’m baffled how they got my private number that's signed up to the TPS though.

Even though the voice sounded like a bloke called Dan, it didn’t feel like a proper chat - more like talking to a bot or something. Just yesterday, I received a call from 0120 281 89 58, and then today another one from 0120 281 89 71. In both instances, the caller was a bloke who abruptly ended the call as soon as I interrupted his sales spiel with questions about who he was and how he managed to get hold of my landline number. The first time, he was babbling on about so-called government grants for heating, and today’s chap claimed he was merely following up regarding a loft installation scheme that was supposedly rolled out in my locality thanks to government funding. It’s quite evident these are just scammers trying to pull a fast one, and they both shamelessly bandied about the term 'government' to lend their dubious claims an air of legitimacy.

When I pressed him for the company name, he mumbled something indecipherable and I informed him that I'm listed with TPF, requesting him to take my number off their list. He then mentioned another company linked to insulation 'down south in Reading'-I pointed out that 01202 is indeed a Bournemouth area code. Reiterated my demand to have my number removed. He then began speaking over me, insisting they'd send a newsletter and would ring back in a fortnight. I firmly told him, “No way! Do not call me back and remove my number immediately!”

This morning, I received a phone call from a chap claiming to be associated with an energy company in my neck of the woods (North Essex). He casually inquired about my well-being, which I found a bit odd. So, I probed him for his identity and the reason behind his call since I had no clue who he was. He quickly backtracked, stating, “Let me start over,” and proceeded to regurgitate his initial spiel word for word. Despite my persistent questioning about who he actually was, he just bulldozed over my enquiries. In the end, I decided enough was enough and hung up the phone.

What a load of nonsense! They’re trying to con people by claiming they’ll replace your loft insulation because it's 'causing dampness'-it’s an absolute scam! They want to send someone round to rip out what you have, charge you an extortionate fee, all under the pretense of improving energy efficiency. When I challenged him on it, he simply hung up-how rude! This kind of rubbish could genuinely worry the elderly, making them fret over the state of their insulation, which honestly is very unlikely to be a problem at all. There should be stricter measures in place to put an end to these nuisance calls.

I had a rather chatty fellow ring me up, insisting that residents in our postcode were grappling with issues related to damp loft insulation, purportedly installed through a Government scheme. He was keen to provide a complimentary inspection and a detailed report on our loft's state. However, I found myself hanging up as he wouldn’t cease his monologue and wasn’t forthcoming with the answers I needed. To top it off, we’ve received three missed calls today from the same number, just differing in the last digits-970 instead of 971. It’s blatantly obvious this is a scam, so do tread carefully!
