I picked up the phone and some bloke started chatting about loft conversions. I said straight away I wasn’t interested but he just kept going. I had to tell him twice I wasn’t up for it. The weird thing is, how on earth did they find my number? It’s ex-directory and I hardly ever give it out. Had four calls now, all from numbers that look pretty much the same.

On Tuesday, I noticed this number rang me twice but luckily my call guard stopped them from actually reaching me. Thanks to that, they never got through.

Some bloke called me, said his name was Tom, and started going on about how the loft insulation I supposedly had put in might be harmful to the environment. I told him there wasn’t any insulation added at all, then he just repeated the same lines again. I just hung up on him. Feels like a right dodgy trick, especially for older people who might get worried thinking they did something bad.

Some bloke called saying he was ‘Tom’ and claimed the loft insulation I supposedly recently got put in was harmful to the environment. I told him I hadn’t had any installed at all, but he kept going like he was just reading a script. I ended the call right after. Seems like a nasty scam aimed at older people who might get worried they’ve made a mistake.

Got a ring from this number claiming to be the energy provider for my area, said they knew I was the owner of the place. Told them it’s actually a rented flat and then the call just dropped out.

Some bloke shouted a question down the phone about whether I'd used a government deal for home insulation. I don’t trust unsolicited calls at all. This one was quite abrupt, then just ended the call. Definitely seemed dodgy to me. I’m baffled how they got my private number that's signed up to the TPS though.

Some bloke called claiming he was from the local energy company. I told him that’s not true at all. When he kept on with his bit, I just ended the call.

I picked up a call from a number I didn’t recognise. I said “Hello” a few times but nobody replied. Could be they expected an older or more vulnerable sounding voice? I have my landline set to ex-directory and it’s on the TPS list. Possibly they’re dialling using random numbers?

Over the past few days, I've received about five calls from various 01202 numbers. Most of them were just silent, but today was different. Like others have said, it seems to be some sort of insulation fraud. Even though the voice sounded like a bloke called Dan, it didn’t feel like a proper chat - more like talking to a bot or something. Whenever I asked something, there was a tiny delay before the reply, and I could just about catch a little click right before “Dan” answered. Really shady!

Just yesterday, I received a call from 0120 281 89 58, and then today another from 0120 281 89 71. Both times, it was a man on the line who quickly hung up once I interrupted his spiel and asked who he was or how he got my phone number. The first call was about some supposed government grants for heating, and the second one claimed to follow up on loft work recently done nearby, supposedly funded by the government too. Pretty obvious these were dodgy calls, since they kept throwing around the word 'government' to try and sound legit. Total scammers in my book.

Got a call from a guy using this number claiming he was from the energy company based around here and said he knew I owned the place. Told him I don’t, then he just hung up on me.

Some bloke rang claiming to be from an energy supplier local to my area, asking if I owned the house. When I asked which company he was with, he mumbled something confusing. I told him I’m registered with the TPS and to take my number off their list. Then he muttered another company name, something about insulation in Reading. I pointed out that my number starts with 01202, which is Bournemouth, so didn’t make sense. Once again, I told him to delete my number. He started talking over me, saying they’d send a newsletter and call back in a fortnight. I bluntly said no to any callback and once more asked him to remove my details.

Got a call yesterday from 01202818966, this bloke was pretty posh and started banging on about loft insulation and some government grant. I tried to stop him a few times but he just kept going. After a while, he twigged I wasn’t buying it and just hung up on me. Then today, a number very close, ending in 71, rang me again but I didn’t bother answering.

I got a phone call from someone claiming they did our loft insulation and wanted to pop over for a free inspection. They had no clue about our address, our names, or even what kind of house we live in, so I just ended the call. Pretty clear it was just a random cold call.

Earlier today, I got a call from a bloke claiming he was from an energy company around North Essex. He started off by asking how I was doing. I asked him who he was and why he was calling since I didn’t recognise the number. Then he said sorry and went back to the beginning, repeating the same thing he said before. When I tried to get him to tell me who he really was, he just kept talking over me. In the end, I just hung up.

Got a call from some insulation company claiming my loft insulation was causing moisture problems and needed to be stripped out and replaced at a huge cost, all in the name of saving energy. I told the guy he was talking nonsense and he just hung up on me. Feels like a scam to me. I worry that older folks might get frightened by this and think their insulation is faulty when it almost certainly isn’t. These sort of calls are really frustrating and should be stopped.

Here's what ended up happening to me.

This bloke sounded quite convincing, saying folks around our postcode were getting damp issues from loft insulation put in under some sort of Government scheme. He said he’d come check our loft for free and give us a report on it. But he kept rambling and wouldn’t answer any of my questions, so I just ended the call. Had three missed calls from that number today, also from a very similar one ending in 970 instead of 971. Seems dodgy to me, watch out for this sort of scam.

When I asked where he got my number, he just said "they got it from me". Then, as soon as I told him to take my info off their list, he hung up. Pretty sure it’s a scam.
