There was this bloke with Indian accent, tried to make me believe he was legit. I said I reckon he’s a scammer and he warns my internet will be gone in 20 minutes unless I sort it out. So I told him just cut it off then. After that, he started getting really nasty and then the call just ended. Proper terrible person that one.

Got a call from a bloke with a heavy Indian accent claiming he was from BT Openreach. I told him I’m actually with VM and couldn’t follow what he was saying, then he just hung up on me.

Got a call from some Indian lady named Dawn, said she was ringing from BT tech support. She claimed our broadband had been hacked by 8 different people. I told her if folks were getting past our firewall, the cops would be involved for sure. After that, she ended the call really quickly.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from BT, saying my broadband had been compromised. I played along for a bit, asking how they knew and what steps I should take. She said I had to stop the hackers and asked me to stay by my PC while she guided me through it, mentioning IP addresses and all that. I then told her to bugger off and ended the call. Marked the number as suspicious since they were clearly trying to get into my computer. What’s funny is I’m not even a BT customer!

I've seen quite a few posts like this on here about similar stuff. These calls, which mostly come from UK numbers, are really getting out of hand. Honestly, the government should step in and do something about these scams.

I was on the phone and there was nothing but silence, so I tried saying hello a few times. Then an Indian lady came on saying it was about my BT broadband. I asked what? then the call just cut off. We don’t even have BT broadband!

Just got a call from someone claiming to be "BT Openreach" saying they wanted to discuss my internet. I asked them to tell me my name, thinking they’d have that info since they apparently work for BT, but instead of answering, the person kept interrupting me. When I insisted again on my name and he couldn’t give it, he just quickly ended the call. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Got a call from some place in India saying they're with "British Telecom" (if anyone remembers them). Could tell there were loads of people in the background all reading the same script trying to con folks. My number's on the TPS and ex-directory, so they’re likely just going down a list.

Got a call from someone saying they were with BT, telling me that a pair of hackers had gotten into my router and my system wasn’t safe. I asked them to clarify where they were from again and they just repeated their opening line, “hello ma’am, I’m calling from BT.” I told them I’d ring BT directly and then they just hung up on me. The person spoke with an Indian accent and you could hear loads of chatting and laughter in the background, like a noisy call centre.

Got a call from some scammers who wanted me to log into my computer. I’m sure their plan was to get a virus on there, then demand money to fix it. It’s really awful that these callers get paid for this when it’s so unethical.

Got a call from someone claiming they were with BT saying my internet was being used illegally. They wanted me to let them access my computer remotely to check it out, but my PC was off, so I told them no. They then said I had to do the tracking on my own. The caller was pretty unpleasant and ended the call. I've since blocked that number.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent, said they were from BT and that my internet was being shut down because my router was supposedly being accessed by strangers. I was in the middle of work and asked if they were serious or just messing about. They ended the call right away.
