I had a rather curious call from a chap named "Chris", who said my residence was flagged for possessing outdated loft insulation. Now, as someone registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), I ought to be exempt from these unsolicited calls. This bloke wanted to know my surname and what age group I fall into, citing that those over 50 are entitled to a complimentary survey-which purportedly saves a tidy sum of £75. I was keen to extract as much information as I could from him. He stated he represented a company called Green Eco Centre but was rather cagey when I asked for their website and couldn't provide any details-despite me trying to look them up during our conversation. Chris mentioned he was fresh on the job and that his supervisor would ring me later to discuss the survey and cough up the website link. I pointed out to him that his company was skirting the law by contacting me like this and suggested he might want to consider a more reputable career path before I hung up.
