Got a call about an elderly alarm, this bloke just kept going on about some product, said he was from a company in Dawlish, Devon. Asked him where he got my number from, then I just hung up. It was about 9.15 in the morning, then him ring again at about 11.30, same guy, same pushy chat. Not on at all. He said I was given as a vulnerable elderly person. Bit worrying, asking for details, said the alarm was free but would cost £29.00 a month. Told him my son lives with me, but he wouldn’t stop, so I told him to shut up and ended the call.

Around 4.07pm on 10/1/22, the number 01202-159043 (showing as Bournemouth on caller ID) rang my former family home landline, but I didn’t pick up. Just to point out, the first digit of the six figure part 159043 is '1', which I think BT never uses in regular landlines? When I rang back, a female voice claiming to be from BT said "sorry, there is a fault". BEWARE - this smells fishy!

I received a call from 01202 159043 which claimed to be a service provider for improving energy efficiency through loft installations. However, as soon as I mentioned that my daughter worked for the government, they promptly ended the call.

Got a bloke on the phone saying I qualified for a free medical alert tag, just needed to verify a couple of details. I told him straight off we knew it was a scam and that his number had been flagged with Ofcom. Pretty sure it was the same mob who tried flogging me home repairs and insurance a while back! Anyway, he ended the call pretty quickly...

Got a call from some resin driveway firm claiming they’re working on a show home nearby. Proper annoying bloke, really rude and just wouldn’t shut up. Had to raise my voice just to get him to stop talking over me.

Just moved into a new place and this guy kept going on about the loft insulation not being right. I asked if he even knew what a new build was, and then he started accusing me of pulling a scam and said his number showed up on my caller ID. Really cheeky of him to be so rude and then hang up on me.

This company has called me three times now, I think it’s the same person talking every time. I contacted the Telephone Preference Service but they told me they can't block the caller because it’s an “auto-generated computer number” that switches every time it rings. Proper annoying!

I'm not sure what they’re trying to get out of it or how they benefit, but one story they use is asking about loft insulation. I reckon they’re just fishing to get your bank info or something like that. It’s definitely a scam. Just don't bother with it.

Got a call from some guy asking if we were past 50 or 60, to check if we qualified for some sort of emergency alert pendant thing. When I asked who he was trying to reach, he just told me where he was calling from and never bothered to ask for anyone by name, like Mr or Mrs... bit dodgy if you ask me.

Had a chat from someone claiming to be a local energy advisor - Patrick, he said, and he knew I owned the house (which I hadn’t even said anything about, just listening). Total scam, especially as he’s in Bournemouth and I’m over 200 miles away in Cheshire. Added another blocked number to my phone. I never call back any dodgy unknown numbers, though sometimes I mess about and tell ’em I died in 2020 but returned as a ghost so no need for heating. One even asked how I died! 😳🤡

Got a call from someone saying they were from Energy Saving Management. When I asked if I’d asked to be called, he just ignored me and carried on saying they’re working for the government. I asked again if I requested the call, and he said alright thanks. When I pressed if he was gonna answer, he said no and hung up on me.
