Just like what loads of others have pointed out, the details you can find online say this number belongs to a bloke called Stuart Wright, living at 21A Plymouth Road, Barnt Green, Birmingham, B45 8JF. Apparently, he’s connected to a bunch of these phone numbers tied to the same dodgy scam. Bit odd, really, considering he’s got a posh pad worth a fortune - makes you wonder how he managed to afford that!

This number 01202 137559 kept ringing me loads of times - it’s one of those energy scam calls. I asked who they were and what company they represented, then told them I was gonna report them to the Ministry of Justice. They hung up straight away after that.

a bloke named chris rang me claiming to be from some ‘green energy in your area’ company for surveys. this is the fifth time they've phoned me from the same place! I’ve said no to any more calls each time, as we don’t take kindly to unexpected calls like these - feels a bit dodgy if you ask me. he sounded nice and polite tho. reckon they’ll probably ring again in about a week or so.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be Tom at Green Eco Centre, saying my old loft insulation - foam or fibre - has to be changed because it’s making the loft all damp with condensation... not true at all! It’s actually down to bad airflow and chilly temperatures up there that cause the dampness. Don’t fall for it, it’s a total con. Just hang up as soon as you get a call like this.

Got two calls from this number today. When I answered, it was clear straight away it was a robot with a very realistic voice. You can tell because there’s a weird electronic noise as soon as you pick up, just before the voice comes on. I’ve heard this guy’s voice loads of times, coming from various different numbers. At first, I almost fell for it and answered a few questions. Now I recognise him instantly from the very first word. Not sure if giving the “right” answers would eventually connect me to a proper human in one of those Indian call centres. Maybe one day I’ll see how far I can take messing around with it.

We got a call on our TPS-listed landline from some bloke called CHRIS, saying he was our LOCAL energy advisor. The number showed a Bournemouth code, which is miles away from us, so that seemed dodgy. My missus gets loads of calls from different 01202 numbers on her phone too, and she never picks up - just blocks and deletes them as soon as they ring. I don’t get why no one can track these lot down and put a stop to it, it’s really annoying!

Just a heads up for anyone who's thinking, "I'm ex-directory" or "I'm on the TPS list" - none of that really matters here. Firstly, the number you see on your phone screen probably isn't the actual caller. They’re faking (spoofing) it. So even if you block one number, expect another different one to pop up soon after. Secondly, where they get your number from? Either they’re pressing random buttons or more likely, they’re working off a big list of phone numbers. These lists get bought, traded, or scraped from all over the place. And scammers? They couldn't care less about UK regulations, getting caught, or facing any consequences. Maybe when everything moves fully to VOIP (which might be quicker than we expect), things could get better. But who knows.

Got a call at about 3:17pm from Chris, some energy advisor. He told me flat out to stop calling this number, said he’d have us taken off their lists and then just ended the call. We’re signed up with the TPS anyway. These calls keep coming from 01202 codes, mostly Bournemouth area - numbers like 137 or 159, though the last three digits change a lot. I guess we’ll see if this actually stops anything.
