I’d been avoiding calls from this number for quite some time, but one day I let my guard down and picked up. They started with that story about some government-backed loft insulation scheme, claiming they wanted to assist. When I asked how they got my unlisted number, the guy just said it was part of a government lead programme. I asked again, and without much hesitation, he just said thanks and ended the call. Watch out for these scammers, they can be pretty dodgy.

Got a call from a guy about loft insulation, turned out his name was Chris and he said he was calling from Green Eco Centre. He kept insisting that a manager would call me back to do a 30 minute survey sometime today. I told him it wasn’t a good time and I wasn’t happy giving info over the phone, asking if he could just point me towards their website instead. After that, he thanked me and ended the call. Mentioned I’m on the TPS too. I had a look at Green Eco Centre on Trustpilot afterwards - looks like a total scam.

Got a call from someone called Chris earlier today. I’m pretty sure it was that same bloke from about a month back, using the same story about being on some ‘list’ or working nearby for loft insulation. I had to cut in and say it was rubbish since we’re definitely not on any list, and if they were actually working round here, we’d have noticed. Plus, we’re signed up to the TPS, though that doesn’t seem to stop these calls. Then he just went quiet and hung up on me.

The voice on the other end sounded totally robotic, kept breaking up and repeating bits. When I mentioned I was only the owner's daughter, I got a weird vibe like it was a scam, and I was about to hang up. Right after I said that, the caller just abruptly said, "Alright, goodbye."

I pick up, don't say a word, then just leave the phone resting nearby while I get a brew on. Once the tea's ready, I hang up. It's a cheeky way to eat up a minute of their time and cost them a bit!
