Received a call from someone requesting the business owner's name directly. Not hard to track down, is it? The chap introduced himself as STEVE JAMES, carrying on as if he were an old mate of the owner and claiming it was a crucial conversation!
I pressed him repeatedly for the name of his company, yet he just kept insisting, “It’s STEVE on the line.”
I muted the call and inquired around the office-no one recognised the name. Even had to interrupt the BOSS, who confirmed he’d never heard of this 'Steve' fellow.
When I unmuted and asked for the company name yet again, I pointedly remarked that I’d assume he was merely a cold caller. He said he’d return the call, and I firmly told him not to waste his time!
