As many others have pointed out regarding similar digits, this particular number is linked to a notorious swindler by the name of Stuart Wright, residing at 21a Plymouth Road, Barnt Green, Birmingham, B45 8JF. It's hardly surprising that he has a rather plush abode, considering he seems to thrive on conning unsuspecting folks!

This company, based in Bournemouth, goes by several names like Ripple Communications, 4 Com, M Tech, and now WowCom. They deal in handsets branded as Hi Hi. Usually, they start off with some fishing style calls, probably to warm you up before hitting you with a sales pitch. If you sign up with them, you’ll end up leasing their phones for around 3 to 5 years. Here’s a link with more info on them: https://opencorporates.com/companies/gb/06472878

Over the last three days, I've had this bloke ring me up 4 times saying he's doing a telecom survey. He was quite pushy and even fibbed, saying we took part in his survey last year, which we didn't.
4 years
Just like the other folks pointing this out, this bloke spoke really fast and kept throwing around loads of acronyms that didn’t mean anything to me. It felt like he expected me to answer, like they were some official body we had to listen to - but they clearly aren’t. I told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Proper insistent chap, that one.

It appears that the Telecoms Research Organisation Limited is on a quest to collect details about the company, including insights into its key decision-makers and the tally of telephones in the office. One can't help but suspect that their endgame might be to peddle these lists as prime targets to various telecom firms, neatly packaged as "premium leads." Quite the crafty move, if you ask me!

I got a call from someone saying they were from National Telecom and wanted to check my info. I hung up straight away, but they rang again a few seconds later. I just ignored the second call and then blocked the number.

Got a call from some blocked number claiming to be from TRO or something like that. They wanted info about our business phone setup but didn’t explain what TRO even stood for. Felt like a total fishing attempt to me. Just hung up straight away.

Got a call from someone saying they were from TRO doing a survey about ISDN business lines being switched off. I told them I wasn’t interested since we don’t take part in surveys. They asked if there was anyone else in our company they could talk to, but I said no because we’ve already dealt with the ISDN situation and aren’t using it anymore.

They rang me around 11:10, which seems to be the usual time based on what I've seen. Didn’t even get to the part where they ask about the number of handsets, so there’s no doubt it’s a scam.

Received a call from a lady with an English accent, who claimed she was investigating our online IT services with BT and wanted me to verify my company's information. When I inquired about her name, she said she couldn’t disclose it. Oddly enough, she did know my name. A bit of frustration on my part led to her hanging up abruptly. It’s definitely a dodgy situation.

I've received two calls from this number, and I've chosen to ignore them. They left a rather pointless blank voicemail. As a result, I can't really say much about their dubious nature, but it's clear they're not genuine.

They pretended to represent a 'telephone research organisation', which, by the way, has been dissolved according to Companies House records. I informed them that I couldn't engage with them without proper authorisation and advised they try again when we weren't at our desks. They claimed, “We’re carrying out comprehensive research on all telephone services across the UK.” I was taken aback and replied, “Oh really? So you intend to contact over five million businesses?” To which the chappie confidently affirmed, “Absolutely.” Right. Time to hit that block button, three times over!

It seems that the telecoms research outfit is keen on collecting details about the individuals making decisions within businesses, as well as tallying the number of telephones they possess. The intent behind this, I suspect, is to compile lists that could be sold to telecom companies for their marketing purposes. Quite the cunning plan!

I received a call purporting to be from the TRO, attempting to verify details about our business to dispatch what seemed like unsolicited material. I found it quite challenging to end the conversation, and they were rather uncooperative when I requested that they remove our company number from their files. I got a phone call this morning from 01202 052630, and the person sounded quite English-definitely no hint of a foreign accent. They said they were calling from the Telecom Research Organisation regarding something to do with a National Telecom Survey. But here’s the kicker: I couldn’t find any recent information about such a survey taking place. It all seemed a tad dodgy if you ask me. When I asked for more details, they were reluctant to provide any further information. Quite the peculiar encounter!
