Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, didn’t answer it and they never left a voicemail. I’m pretty sure I’m not signed up to anything that would make sense for this.

Got a call supposedly from the Royal Horticultural Society, asking if I'd like to gift aid my membership. This was the second time they’ve phoned me. On the previous call, they mentioned a discount on the subscription. Honestly, I’m pretty convinced it’s not really the RHS ringing.

So these callers claim they're ringing from the RHS, trying to get you to add gift aid to your subscription. I’m still trying to confirm if that’s legit, but I've already said no twice and they just won’t stop ringing. Eventually, I had to block their number and I’ve also reported it to the RHS.

I don’t normally pick up, but if they ring me again I might answer and tell them what I think. I’m on the TPS, but it doesn’t seem to do much against these kinds of calls. I received a call from a Newquay number on the 19th of January 2022, but they didn’t pick up and left no voicemail. The very next day, I was called from 020 3695 4770, and it was the same scenario-no response and no message. Then, on the following day, I got another call from 020 3608 8208, and it was identical-no answer and no notes left behind. Seems like there could be a connection between these calls.

I contacted RHS and they got back to me by email, saying that the call was actually from one of their subsidiaries. If you want to arrange a gift aid declaration, you’ll need to ring the RHS membership services team at 0203 176 5810. Their office hours are 9am to 5pm on weekdays.

If anyone calls asking about gift aid and you’ve already got it sorted, just hang up - you should’ve done it when you signed up anyway.
