Got a call from a woman claiming to be from Scottish Power, sounded like she was reading off a script. Seemed well-informed about our company details. She told me we’d been overbilled on a bill supposedly sent on 8th July 2022, but it’s actually only 5th July 2022 today. Bit odd to say the least.

Received a call at work earlier from someone warning us about a huge bill we were supposedly going to get. Beware, this number called me pretending to be from EDF. I ended the call and decided to ring EDF directly. Just as I was chatting with EDF, the same caller rang again and EDF put them on speaker. Turns out it was definitely a scam. Huge thanks to EDF for handling it so well and helping me out!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from SSE. She said there was some problem with our account from April and wanted us to verify the meter reading and billing address to sort the billing out. I told her to email me the details instead, and then she just disconnected. Definitely a scam since we don't even have SSE as our supplier.

Our accounts team confirmed we were settled up and actually don’t have any affiliations with either company, at which point they abruptly ended the call. Interestingly, the number appears to be associated with a London business named "CarDotCheck". Feels like this is a classic scam...

At first, the caller claimed to be from Drax Power, then switched to saying they were with SSE. They kept saying they had a meter reading and that I owed £100. They were really pushy about it. Thing is, I don’t even have a meter myself since the landlord sorts all the utilities. Not quite sure if it was some sort of phishing attempt or a callback scam, but it definitely felt dodgy.

She went through some address info which seemed right, especially cause we'd had issues earlier this year. When I phoned EON directly to verify, turns out it was a total scam.
