Over the past couple of days, I've gotten loads of calls from different 0117 numbers. The first one said it was Virgin, but it was clear it was a scam. Since then, I've just been blocking them as they come in. The numbers are 01174090568, 01174094995, and 01179116873 twice. The last three rang me within the last three hours. Seems like they're getting more aggressive!

Watch out, this is one of those broadband cons. They try to get you to install an app named Quick Support so they can control your iPad or whatever device you’re using.

This number rang me earlier today, saying they were from Virgin Media. I decided to mess around and asked what they ate for dinner yesterday, keeping the convo going. Eventually, they slipped up and gave their time zone - definitely not from the UK. Pretty obvious SCAM.

I've been on the receiving end of numerous calls from this number and several others with a similar tone. They purport to be representatives of Virgin Media, insisting that my broadband is riddled with errors and that I need to replace my router forthwith. They even prompted me to run Event Viewer on my computer to supposedly highlight these issues-mind you, every PC has its fair share of errors; it's entirely usual. Then came the request for me to install TeamViewer to grant them complete control of my machine. Of course, I had no intention of handing over my ID and password. Instead, I decided to play along, determined to keep them on the line for as long as I could, which was quite the challenge given their thick accent that made comprehension quite difficult. Just a word of caution-never agree to install TeamViewer or any similar applications when you get a surprise call like this. Reliable companies such as Virgin Media or BT would never make such demands.

Some bloke rang pretending to be from Virgin Broadband and told me there was some dodgy stuff happening on my internet. I said sorry, could you repeat that? Then he snapped back with “DO YOU UNDERSTAND?” pretty rude if you ask me. I just ended the call right there.

This morning at 7.48 I got a call from 0117116873. An Asian woman called, using an English name, claiming to be from Virgin Media's tech support about my broadband. I just hung up straight away. Yesterday, I also had a withheld number from a guy called Jack, sounded Asian too, again pretending to be Virgin Media. I rang Virgin Media myself and told them what's going on. They said it’s probably a scam and sent me a link to help block these calls.
