Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, no message left, and they just cut off as soon as my voicemail kicked in. That’s the third dodgy one I’ve had today, probably just yet another scam.

Received a call yesterday around 4:18 PM, but they didn’t leave a voicemail. The number was unfamiliar, so I chose not to answer. However, the area code and the usual calling pattern rang a bell, leading me to suspect it was likely a scam call.

Got a call on my landline from someone who said his name was Matthew. He claimed he was following up about loft insulation. We're registered with TPS and never asked for any of this. I told him he was a scammer and to stop calling. Then he just hung up. Proper dodgy, could catch someone out.

Got a call from someone saying they needed to check up on a loft insulation job they supposedly did recently. They wanted to send someone round to have a look in person. Honestly, it felt dodgy - having strangers come into the house is risky, especially for those who might be more vulnerable.

Got a call from someone saying, "Hi, this is Sam from Windows and Doors UK," or maybe it was Direct, not totally sure. Then he asked if he was talking to the property owner. I asked, "Which property are you referring to?" and after that... nothing. Just dead silence. I asked again, still no response. Then they just ended the call. When I asked him to spell my surname to confirm he was legit, he refused to give me mine, saying that since he called me, he should already know it. To confuse me more, he then said his real name was Matthew. Total odd one.

Got a call from some bloke banging on about how my loft insulation might be causing damp and that it needs checking out. I cut him off and asked if he was aware of the TPS. He said no, so I told him to have a proper look at it before phoning people at random. Told him to have a good day and ended the call. Reported it to the TPS - feels pointless but worth a shot - and also to the ICO, which occasionally does something. It's really frustrating that these scams keep happening, targeting vulnerable older folks.

Initially, I presumed it was just another robocall, but much to my surprise, a chap actually spoke to me. He alleged he was representing some government initiative regarding insulation. I didn't let him ramble on for too long, as I swiftly informed him that my insulation was perfectly fine, I had no issues with it, and I certainly didn't require any inspections. Then I promptly hung up. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with these unsolicited calls-I'm clocking in two or three each week! I've attempted to block them, yet they seem to sprout up again under various numbers.

Why on earth did I pick up that call? I held the line for a couple of seconds after greeting the caller, and was just about to hang up when I finally heard a voice on the line. Naturally, I decided to look up the number, suspecting it might be something crucial. Judging by what others have shared, it seems it’s likely just another scam or some pesky sales pitch. Funny how these nuisance calls always seem to come right at dinnertime, isn't it? I hadn't a clue who it was, but I usually just disregard calls that come from numbers outside my local area code.

Just the usual insulation nonsense. When I mentioned I was from TPS, he abruptly ended the conversation. I’m not holding my breath that it’ll put an end to the incessant calls, though. We seem to be getting roughly a couple each day!

I received a call from a bloke in Southampton, and it seems he often rings from various mobile numbers, but he always sticks to the same spiel about a survey regarding loft insulation. This particular call came through at ten past five on the 1st of July in 2021. Quite the persistent one, I must say!

I've received calls from the same bloke using the same lines on two occasions now. Had a call the other day, and today, I picked up. He began with the usual spiel and then bizarrely inquired if my loft was still functioning as a storage area, which it certainly isn't. After that, there was an awkward pause, and I asked, "Is this actually a real person?" To which he promptly disconnected! It's a pity that blocking these nuisances is not as straightforward on a landline as it is on a mobile phone.
