Just got a voicemail from a number I didn't know saying it was OVO wanting to discuss my account. Since I do use OVO for my energy, I called back. The automated message sounded exactly like OVO’s official one, mentioning Bristol and something about collections. I then checked my OVO app and reached out to their customer service, who confirmed they hadn’t sent me any message or tried to call me. Definitely a scam!

When I did pick up the most recent one, someone said it was an intro call and then went silent. If they’re genuine, they really don’t seem to value customers at all.

On the last occasion, I managed to gather an 0800 number from them, but upon checking, I discovered it was also flagged as potentially being linked to scammers. Quite the ordeal, really!

The accent was distinctly South African, very articulate too. She requested that I verify my details for security purposes in order to proceed with our conversation. I was on the brink of confirming my information when I hesitated, being a bit finicky about privacy matters. Plus, I’ve had my issues with OVO recently. So, I asked her to clarify the purpose of her call to ascertain her authenticity. At that point, she abruptly hung up. I did a quick search for the number and discovered that countless others have fallen victim to this scam. The call was exceedingly realistic, mimicking genuine OVO calls, and coincidentally, I was in communication with OVO, which made it all the more believable. It was alarmingly convincing.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY BY FRAUDSTERS claiming to be OVO. This is NOT OVO! These callers are absolute criminals. They try to build trust, often targeting vulnerable elderly folks. The call came through to my 95 year old Grandma. Lucky I was there with her! These crooks are also posting false info on this site pretending to be OVO, but they’re not! Please don’t be fooled. I won’t call them scammers anymore - they’re just plain thieves.

Just got a call from that number, barely managed to hear the woman on the line. She only used my first name and asked if I had an Ovo account, then wanted me to answer some security questions. Something about it felt dodgy so I ended the call. Sounded like she had an Asian accent.

Got a call on my phone from this number and the woman, who had a foreign accent, asked for me by my first name only. She claimed she was calling from OVO energy. When I asked what the call was about, she said something regarding my account. The problem is, I dont have an account with OVO at all. She just said alright and hung up. This woman said she was looking for someone and told me she worked for Ovo Energy. I called their official helpline and the person I spoke with said this number isn’t in their records. The number she gave sounds almost the same as the dodgy one.

They keep ringing me every couple of days saying it’s about an account ending in ABC, but I’ve never even had any accounts like that. They’ve got my phone number and full name, and even ask about the Direct Debit I’m paying for an account I already shut down. I checked with the genuine Ovo Energy and they confirmed my account is closed and no outstanding balance. Be careful and don’t share any info with them!

Got a really nasty call pretending to be from Ovo Energy. They kept threatening me and wanted me to pay a bill by credit card that didn’t even show up in Ovo’s system. I just hung up and suggest you do the same. If you’re worried, ring Ovo directly yourself. The scammer even had loads of my personal info and email, then asked me to verify it. Don’t fall for it. Legit energy providers don’t call asking for payments over the phone.

Got a call off someone saying they were from Ovo asking for my details. They tried to push a smart meter on me, and when I declined, suddenly they started threatening with some debt collector nonsense, even though I’m sure my account’s all paid up. Proper dodgy and needs shutting down.

Yep, that number really belongs to OVO, but watch out. Scammers often fake it to try and steal your info. Don’t just trust the number straight away, but don’t just brush it off either. Best thing is to log into your OVO account and ring them through the official number. They’re located in Bristol.

I've received countless calls from this number, which I've now decided to block. They've been persistent in trying to obtain personal information, so I strongly advise against sharing anything with them. Just hang up and add them to your block list!

Got a call from these lot yesterday. They said they were from OVO and already had my name, address, and email - even knew I’d just left them. They just wanted to check my postcode so they could send me a refund cheque (I’d stopped the direct debit when I left to avoid any charges) because my account had credit... They even told me the exact amount in credit. Seemed legit and definitely OVO to me.

Sometimes this could be a real OVO number, but for me it wasn’t. I’m a bloke and got a call from this number asking for a lady with a name quite close to mine. I've had a bunch of scam calls claiming to be from OVO today. I’d already rung OVO to double check - they had no record of calling me and had already taken my number off their sales list. Don’t ever give out personal info to cold callers, no matter who they say they are. Plus, numbers can be faked, so just because it looks like a company, doesn’t mean it really is.

I ended the call and then rang Ovo on 0330 303 5063, they said it was definitely from their collections team. They also told me the safest thing to do since numbers can be faked is just to hang up and ring them back directly.

Totally a scam, the lady sounded really strange right away and then kept interrupting me when I was explaining that this number wasn’t OVO energy and that I intended to call OVO using the official number I knew. Not totally sure, but it felt a bit dodgy. They said they were from OVO and knew my first name, but didn’t know my last name. Straight away they were asking for more info. The number looked a bit off for OVO: +44 117 332 6934. When I asked them to ring me back on a proper OVO number, the person called Kerry (had a slight Indian accent) just ended the call without explaining why they were calling. Quite suspicious if you ask me.
