Cancer Research keep ringing up asking for my husband who’s at work all day. We’ve told them loads of times not to bother, but they still call around 4pm every day like clockwork. Today I lost my patience having to explain who I was and why we don’t want the calls, only for the bloke on the phone to then ask if they could get in touch by email or text instead - absolutely not!! The guy was proper sarcastic and just wouldn’t accept that we’re happy to support the charity, we just don’t want these annoying calls constantly. Honestly, it makes you not want to donate at all!

from what i can tell this seems like a legit call - looked up the number and found nothing suspicious. the reason you dont hear anything when you pick up is because its an automated system ringing loads of numbers simultaneously and whoever picks up first connects to a sales rep.

they claimed to be from cancer research uk and knew my name since i already donate monthly. they asked if i could add an extra £1 per month, which I’m fine with. i told them i was working and it wasn’t the best time to chat. they said they’d ring me back at 6pm, but i’m definitely not handing out my bank info over the phone since they should already have it. if they need anything else, they can send it in writing.
