Can I block this number from contacting my phone?

I got two calls today from different companies - first was about a freezer warranty, then later one about boiler insurance. Like always, I mucked them about on the phone for ages, making up info to waste their time. What creeps me out is they already had all my info right - surname, address, even my postcode spot on.

Got hit up by that freezer warranty con again. Ended up chatting with some guy for about ten minutes before he passed me over to the so-called manager. Then she started asking for my bank details, like sort code and account number. After I gave her fake info, she put me on hold to “verify” it. When she returned, she accused me of messing about. I just said yeah, and she promptly hung up. Honestly, I love winding them up and wasting their time.

Got a call again but no message left, classic scam stuff. It’s so annoying! Really makes me concerned about older folks or anyone who might be easy to trick by these lot. 😞

They rang me at 12.03pm today but didn’t bother to leave a message. Honestly, we just don’t pick up calls from numbers we don’t recognise anymore because of all the dodgy scams going around. If they were legit, surely they’d have left a message, right?

Got another call like this today, and as usual, there was no voicemail left when I checked my answer machine.

I received a call regarding an extension on a warranty, but when I informed them that the individual they were after no longer had this number, they proceeded to ask for a name. I then pointed out that they hadn't called to chat with me in the first place and decided to hang up.

I got a call from a woman who wanted to speak to me by name about some washing machine insurance. When I asked what it was about, she said the warranty on my washing machine was up. Since I know the machine’s warranty has already expired, I told her I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Sounds like a dodgy insurance sales call to me, so I’m just going to block the number or ignore it next time.

Got a few calls from some bloke called Jason about renewing my washing machine warranty. He kept asking if I still use the same bank, even though I’ve never signed up for any warranty at all. I told him to just send me the details in the post so I can check it out when I get a chance. He rang again today trying to push things, but when I mentioned I’m an accountant and explained how direct debit mandates are done (I have to fill them in and send to the bank, not them), he suddenly changed his story. Watch out for these guys! If they ring again, I’m reporting them for harassing me.

Absolutely, I had a phone call regarding my washing machine just a few days back. When I inquired about the brand, the caller mentioned Bosch. I clarified that my machine is a Whirlpool, and just five minutes ago, I received yet another call about the insurance coverage for my Whirlpool washing machine. It’s all quite exhausting, to be honest!

Exercise caution when dealing with this caller who presented themselves as quite the professional. They initially claimed to be reaching out regarding my warranty for white goods, stating that it was on the verge of expiring and enticing me to extend it for £6.99 a month and various other offers. They even probed into my ability to handle financial matters and questioned whether I had power of attorney. Upon inquiring about which specific appliance was no longer covered, they conceded that it was merely a cold call aimed at getting me to enroll all my white goods at a discounted rate for each item.

Got a call from 01173253287 on 9th November, a guy named Sam claiming to be from White Goods Repair Services. He told me my washing machine’s warranty had run out but didn’t say what brand it was. Asked for the brand so their engineer could see about renewing the warranty and fixing it. Seemed a bit lost, like he wasn’t sticking to a script. Told him I didn’t need any repairs and he hung up pretty quick. Feels like they’re just trying to keep you on the line and rack up call charges. Total scam if you ask me.

Today my elderly folks got a phone call from this number, luckily I picked up. Sounds like it’s some overseas call centre but uses a local number through a forwarding service. Same old scam stuff, claiming they’re renewing your warranty and say they’ll send documents in the post, then try to trick you into signing up for monthly fees. My mum and dad have been getting loads of calls from 011 numbers today, each one a different kind of scam.
