1 yearJust got a call from someone pretending to be from my bank, saying there was an issue with my Visa card. Felt off right away, seemed like a typical scam trying to get my details. Luckily, I didn't give them any info. Watch out, folks!2 yearsSome guy rang me claiming he was from BT Openreach, saying there was a fault on my line and that others were supposedly using my internet. I told him I wasn’t having any issues at all, but then he said they'd cut off my service right away. I just hung up after that.BT Openreach2 yearsGot a call from a bloke who said he was with TalkTalk, said they were sorting out a new router for me. He already knew my name and where I live, which made me a bit on edge. Then he got all weird and started asking for my bank info, threatening to cut off my broadband if I didn’t give it. I just hung up and put the number on silent. Later on, the same number rang me again. Total pain.TalkTalk2 yearsSome bloke rang claiming to be from TalkTalk saying they needed to swap out my router. I got suspicious when he asked me to install some remote access thingy, so I just said no thanks. Then he threatened to disconnect my internet and just straight up ended the call. Bloody cheeky if you ask me.TalkTalk2 yearsGot a call from a bloke who said he was from Talk Talk and that he was nearby. He said I needed to upgrade my router to get fibre, then warned my computer would stop working tomorrow. He told me he couldn’t call back ‘cause he was too busy, then just hung up. Since then, I’ve had loads of voicemail messages off him.3 yearsSomeone rang saying they were from TalkTalk saying our internet was getting an upgrade so faster fibre was available. Thing is, we live too far from the exchange so can’t get that speed. I didn’t really believe what he said and was in a hurry, so just told him no thanks. He phoned again the next day but I wasn’t at home, so just left an answerphone and all I got back was a bit of a sigh and a grunt. I checked this number on your site and glad I did as it gave me more info. The caller was actually quite polite and didn’t pressure me at all on that first call.TalkTalk3 yearsHad a call from someone claiming to be from TalkTalk, said they wanted to send me a new router or something.TalkTalk3 yearsClaimed to be from Talk Talk, but I explained that I'm actually a Sky customer. He wouldn't take my word for it and kept pushing the Talk Talk line. When he mentioned an upgrade, I reiterated that I have no interest in their services, especially given how awful I've heard they are. Not falling for this little scam they've got going!Sky3 yearsI received a call from a chap with an Asian accent who identified himself as being from Talk Talk. He insisted that there was an issue with our router, which struck me as rather odd since we don’t even use a Talk Talk router in the first place.3 yearsOn Saturday 29th July, I got a call from this number. The person said they were from TalkTalk asking about our router, but something felt off. I had a feeling it was a scam, so I just ended the call straight away.TalkTalk3 yearsGot a call from a guy who claimed he was with TalkTalk, something about my router not functioning right. It sounded a bit dodgy to me.TalkTalk3 yearsI received a call from a number that claimed to be based in Bristol. The caller identified himself as being from Airband, which, funnily enough, is my internet provider. He proceeded to inform me that due to some interruptions and the slower-than-advertised speeds I’d been experiencing, they’d be sending me upgraded routers at no cost. Apparently, I should expect them through Royal Mail next week. He then asked whether I could check my internet speeds; coincidentally, I had actually done this already, which seemed to take him aback a bit. The conversation took a rather bizarre turn when he requested that I power on both my PC and laptop so they could verify compatibility. He even suggested that they could access my laptop remotely to monitor download speeds! Seriously?! I may be in my seventies, but I’m certainly not naïve. I decided to end the conversation right there.BristolAirbandRoyal Mail3 yearsI've seen several comments echoing similar sentiments, and I can personally verify that this is definitely not TalkTalk. It's a dodgy scheme aimed at conning money out of your accounts. If this number tries to reach you, best just to hang up immediately and make sure to flag it as fraudulent. Stay safe and alert!TalkTalk3 yearsReceived a call from someone claiming to be with TalkTalk, chatting about my broadband connection. However, I'm not even a TalkTalk customer anymore. He then brought up Openreach, which struck me as odd. When I pressed him for more details, he abruptly ended the call. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!TalkTalkOpenreach3 yearsJust like a previous remark I've seen, this one was supposedly from TalkTalk. They claimed they were enhancing my connection to fibre optic and mentioned a shiny new router would be on its way. However, they insisted on first checking the speed of my current router. I asked them to send me a letter instead and promptly hung up.TalkTalk3 yearsA chap rang me claiming to be with TalkTalk, saying they were in the process of upgrading my line to fibre optic and that they’d be dispatching a new router my way. He insisted on checking my line quality and asked if I could perform an Ookla speed test. My first test showed a rather dismal result, but I decided to run another one without him knowing, and lo and behold, the speed was much better. Then he requested I download an app called Awesun. While he rambled on, I did a quick search and discovered it offers features like remote assistance for Android devices, file transfers, and altering Wi-Fi settings. Apparently, all I needed to do was install the Awesun Client on my Android so he could access it anytime. I raised my eyebrows and pointedly asked, "So, you're asking me to install something that’d allow you to take control of my computer?" He confirmed with a simple, "Yes." At that moment, I decided enough was enough and told him, "Not a chance! Cheers!" and hung up.TalkTalk3 yearsA chap rang me up claiming to be from TalkTalk, insisting that we were due for an upgrade to full fibre. He then proceeded to ask me to purchase two Amazon gift cards, each valued at £100, for the engineers, promising that they would promptly deposit the cash into my bank. All he required was my bank info. Naturally, I strung him along for about 20 minutes before I casually mentioned that I had no internet connection. He was far from pleased, but I found it all rather entertaining.TalkTalkAmazonSubmit Your Own Report (0117 318 5255)
