They just give you a first name, say they're from something like 'Claims Advisory Service', and tell you they’ve got a case open that they’re trying to close, saying there’s money owed to me from an accident I was in, then ask if I know why payment hasn’t been made. The moment I try to dig deeper - asking who they actually are, who told them to call, how on earth they got my number (‘oh, it’s from some database from a third party’), or where their company is located - the call hangs up straight away. All the chats are super quick and I haven’t been able to get anything solid that would let me report them to the TPS, since they need the company’s name and address before they will step in. I don’t think this is above board, more like a dodgy tactic to get me to hire a personal injury lawyer or something along those lines.
