Just like loads of others here, I reported this to Action Fraud but I’m not holding my breath on them doing much about it. Luckily, I missed the call and it went to voicemail, otherwise I would’ve let them have it! It’s so frustrating when people think they can take the mick and treat you like you’re daft. Really annoying!

Had a bit of fun with these lot - could tell it was a dodgy call right from the start. I said if I handed over all my bank and card info, they'd have the cash instantly, no messing about. They were totally hooked until it dawned on them I was playing them. They started shouting about the Police showing up, but as soon as I burst out laughing, they just cut me off.

Just like everyone else has said, I told them I’m an employee and my tax stuff is handled by my boss. Then they said someone’d show up at my place in half an hour if I hung up, and that I’d be nicked for 15 days. I told them I’d be waiting with my solicitor. I also pointed out that their names, Richard Browns and some other English-sounding name, didn’t fit at all with their accents, plus they barely spoke proper English. It’s pretty worrying how much personal info they’ve got - my address, name and phone number all there.

Called by someone trying to con money out of me.

Somebody phoned me claiming I owed loads in taxes and could end up in jail if I didn't sort it out. I said my boyfriend’s a copper and was listening in because this number came up as a known scam caller. They just dropped the line. When I tried ringing back, the call got disconnected. Later, I rang from my home phone, and the moment I gave my name and said the police were recording, they binned it again!

Someone rang me saying they were from HMRC, accusing me of dodging tax and said there was a warrant out to arrest me. I explained I don’t owe anything because my taxes are handled by my employer through PAYE. They just ended the call right away. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Honestly, just give them a bell and mess about a bit, it’s pretty funny getting under their skin.

I got a message out of the blue saying it was from HMRC, telling me to ring them back or I'd face serious trouble. Definitely looks like one of those dodgy scams meant to frighten you into calling and maybe coughing up cash. Might be worth giving them a bell just to mess about and waste their time a bit!

Got a really worrying call from this number, saying they were from HMRC and threatening to send the police to arrest me. They told me I owed tax from 2011 to 2016 but couldn’t back it up with any specifics, which made me suspicious it was a scam. There was a man and a woman on the line, both sounding like they had either an Asian or American accent, and they spoke very confidently.

Got the same robotic message as everyone else. A week ago, it said to ring 0116 3184217, but that number seems dead now. I’m just hanging up on these calls, but it’s so annoying having them jabber away on my voicemail over and over!

Got about 5 calls already, always goes to voicemail though. I keep blocking the numbers but they just ring from a different one each time. Honestly, I'm getting proper annoyed now. ??

For more than a week now I've been getting calls about HMRC, and it's definitely a scam. They keep switching phone numbers all the time. I've already reported it to Action Fraud. It's getting really annoying.

They always send a letter from HMRC first, never just call you out of the blue - if someone’s ringing you claiming to be them, it’s a scam for sure.

If you pick up they just play scary messages. Don’t bother ringing them again, it’s definitely a scam.

I’m on my third call in just a couple of weeks, all with the exact same voicemail. It’s really starting to annoy me. This has got to be some kind of scam - something needs to be done about it!

I got some robo call from someone saying they were from HM Revenue & Customs, warning me that if me or my lawyer don’t ring them back soon, I’ll be in big trouble. Pretty dodgy if you ask me!

Got a robo call from someone saying they were with HMRC - caller’s name was Denise Gray. Definitely sounded like one of those automated scam messages.

I just don’t get why the fraud team hasn’t taken any action yet. With all the strict controls and rules about money laundering, you’d think they could easily track where the cash ended up. This kind of thing puts older and vulnerable people in real danger.

Already had 3 calls from them yesterday and just got another one this morning. I've put in a report for fraud, so hopefully something will be done!

Got a call earlier with a really creepy voicemail. They said if I didn’t ring them back, I’d face some serious consequences. They claimed to be from HMRC and mentioned some guy called Dennis Grey. Honestly, this kind of stuff is terrifying, especially for those who might be more vulnerable. Someone needs to shut this down ASAP. Don’t bother calling them back, you’ll probably just get shouted at or worse.

Got a call from 01172303865, someone named Dennis Gray claiming to be from HMRC. This is the third time they've tried different numbers with the same story, telling me to either call back or have a solicitor contact them. Honestly, this has got to be put to an end.

Got a voicemail supposedly from HMRC warning me about a major tax problem. When I rang the number back, a young man with an Asian accent answered and it was obvious he was trying to scam me. He even said there’s a warrant for my arrest! As soon as I mentioned I’d be contacting the police, he started shouting and being rude. I just hung up straight away and reported it right away to Action Fraud.

My mum got a call from some scammers pretending to be HMRC, insisting she owed over £2000 and threatening jail if she didn't pay up. She almost got caught out but thankfully pulled back in time! She's already contacted the police and the fraud team about it. The caller, who kept saying her name was 'Karen Wheeler', was so rude - when confronted, she just told her to ring whoever she wanted. Watch out though, because the phone number has been switching around; yesterday they used a Scottish code and today it was a Bristol one.

Got a robo call supposedly from HMRC warning me to ring them back on this number about an urgent matter. They said if I ignored it and my solicitor didn’t get in touch, there’d be some kind of penalty or trouble. Definitely just a scam, don’t fall for it!

This number has rung me up a few times and even left a scary voicemail saying I supposedly owe HMRC £2800. We told them to just send a letter instead. The most recent call I got from 01172303865 was at 10:28 on the 24th of July.

I received a pre-recorded call purporting to be from HMRC, insisting that I or my solicitor must return the call without delay or face dire repercussions. Strangely enough, I've had this same message numerous times from the number 01416289905. These con artists really ought to be stopped, as it could genuinely terrify someone unaware that it's a scam.

I get calls like this pretty often, usually the same message each time. Definitely seems like a scam to me, especially since I own a business and am all sorted with HMRC and VAT. They keep ringing about 3 to 4 times a day, every hour or so. It's pretty annoying!
