These days, if I don’t know the number, I just let it go straight to voicemail, like this one. Normally, they just stay quiet and never leave a message. If you don’t wanna chat, why even bother ringing? Idiots! I’ve blocked this number and loads more like it.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming she needed to check my loft for safety. I asked her to confirm what my name was, and she ended up guessing it wrong. After that I just ended the call.

Lately, we've had loads of calls from unknown numbers, this being one of those. If a number looks unfamiliar, we just let the answerphone pick up. Of course, no one ever leaves a message. The funny thing is, because the machine answers, they end up paying a connection charge. We don’t bother calling them back either, as it could be a sneaky trick leading to a costly premium line. Seriously, some folks will try anything to avoid proper work.
