Got a call from this number yet again but they hung up straight away before I could answer. I haven’t bothered ringing them back. Makes me think they might be using some trick to make it look like the call’s coming from a local place - like Leicester in this case.

This number keeps calling me over and over, always looking for someone who doesn’t live here. They say they’re from AMS Nationwide, and the person on the phone sounds like they’re from around Merseyside. Every time I tell them to take my number off their list, they just carry on calling like I never said a word. Honestly, they need to put a stop to this.

So, I got a call on my phone today, 19th April 2016, and honestly, it really grated on me. They had the nerve to ring up saying that me or someone in my family had been in a car crash! My mum, who’s 89, had the same sort of call a couple of weeks back and it really upset her. You’d think with all the stuff BT has, they could do something to block these calls.

i always avoid picking up calls from unknown numbers, and i never bother calling back, even if it’s from a local area. if it’s really something urgent, they’ll leave a message or drop a text, so no need to stress.

For the last couple of days, I've received calls from this number nonstop. Whenever I try to ring back, it just hangs up straight away and nobody picks up. At first, I assumed it was someone from Leicester because of the area code, but nothing rings through when I call them. Hey, just got a ring from this number at about 7pm on 11/02/2016. Since it was a local code, I picked up. A girl on the line said it was about some sort of accident. The way she spoke made me a bit uneasy, so I checked my pay-as-you-go phone balance afterwards. It should’ve been £5.08, but now it’s down to £3.98. I can’t be totally certain they nicked my money, but it’s suspicious that the call came and my credit has dropped by £1.10. If that’s the case, seriously, there needs to be action taken. And by that, I mean the ones doing this are the real problem here.

Just got a call from a number claiming to be about my car insurance. Asked if they were from DVLA or Admiral, and when he said no, I told him I wasn’t going to share any details. Then he sneaked in a question about if I’d had an accident in the past three years. When I said I didn’t have to answer, he threatened to put my name on some kind of list for not cooperating. Seems dodgy to me. Hope he gets called out for it. Number was 0116 428 2213.

I called AMS National back, but when I rang them, the recorded message said they don't take incoming calls. It also mentioned they'd get in touch only if the matter was urgent.

I got a call from these lot just now. They claimed I’d been involved in a ‘faultless’ accident within the last three years and wanted to check everything was handled properly. When I asked where they were calling from, the bloke said ‘the north west’ and had a strong Geordie accent. I pointed out the number on my phone had a Leicester area code, and he explained their dialler picks numbers from nearby exchanges so it looks like a local call. Though he was quite polite, it was clearly one of those typical insurance scam cold calls.
