Received two calls today looking for my sister, who isn’t even a resident of the UK, at this address! They claimed to be from 'Icall Telecom'. When I pressed for more details, they said they were a UK telecom service trying to help lower my phone bill. The woman sounded like she was calling from overseas. Initially, she just reiterated, 'I Call Telecom'. When I probed further, asking 'Which country?', she paused then claimed 'Brighton'. I inquired about how they obtained my sister’s name and number, to which she replied, 'the database'. I mentioned that this number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service, and she apologised, assuring me she would remove it. For starters, it's a Leicester code, so her mentioning Brighton is utterly absurd, and when I attempted to call back with the 141 prefix, it said, 'number not recognised'.

I seem to receive calls from this number quite frequently, roughly once each day during the week. More often than not, I choose to let it ring. However, on the rare occasion I do pick up, the line goes dead almost instantly, with no one bothering to utter a word. It's quite odd, really.

I just got a call from this number, and the chap on the other end was keen to chat about some local scheme that supposedly saves me a few quid. He didn’t bother to introduce himself, and when I mentioned that an unsolicited call at half seven in the evening wasn’t exactly welcome, he seemed baffled. But to be fair, he was only a few minutes away from clocking off, so I suppose he was just trying to make the most of it.
