The number 0116 318 3456 was still active as of 13th May 2019. I didn’t pick up, but the voicemail was weird - no actual talking, just loads of voices chatting nonsense in the back. She spoke really good English and said I’d been in an accident. I asked her which accident it was, she got all flustered and just asked if I’d had one. I said, well you just said I had, so which one exactly? Then the call just dropped. I blocked the number and signed up on those no cold call lists, but it makes no difference! I assumed the new data protection rules would stop this nonsense. I need my phone on at work since my dad’s unwell. It’s so invasive and unfair! Bet they wouldn’t like it if it was them.

This number rang us twice on the 8th of February, so when it called a third time, my partner picked up. No one said anything, then he heard someone trying to sell something before they hung up. I’ve just spotted that we were charged for the call. It’s only 28p, but still, it’s annoying. Virgin said they can’t look into it because it only happened once and their records show that we made the call! Make sure you check your bills if you caught a call from this number!

I've received two phone calls from this number, back to back, with a distinctly Asian accent. They claimed to represent the "Telephone Preference Society," which raised my suspicions right away. They seemed aware of when my debit card was no longer valid, which made me feel quite uneasy. They then attempted to extract details about my cheque book, but I put my foot down and made it clear I recognised their scam. During the second call, I simply told them to "leave me alone" before cutting the line. I've gone ahead and flagged the number with my BT call protection service.

Got two calls today, but coz I've got BT Guardian it stopped 'em, though I've blocked the number now anyway. For anyone without that sort of setup who ends up picking up these dodgy calls, maybe keep a referee whistle by your phone? Then when they start probing for bank info or whatever, just blow it loud! Some geezer from India rang me at 6.55am (!), claiming he was from the Windows Tech Support about some viruses my PC was apparently spreading - that tired old line again. Had pretty much the same thing happen to me. A woman with a heavy foreign accent kept calling, saying she was from BT's telephone preference service. She claimed she wouldn’t need any bank info but talked about a £3 fee to stop annoying calls. When I asked questions, all she said was "I don’t want your card details." Just like loads of others, I've had loads of calls today. Sometimes the phone rings then goes dead as soon as I pick up. When I finally got to speak with someone, she already knew my name and where I lived. As soon as she worked out I caught on, she hung up sharpish. I'm on the TPS and my number’s ex-directory, so someone’s definitely leaked our info to these awful scammers. Really worry this could fool my elderly mum. I’m definitely reporting it to Ofcom.

Early this morning, I got a call from a bloke who sounded Asian but spoke very clearly. I had a bit of fun winding him up, and he ended up yelling all sorts of rude words. I told him I’d be glad to keep him chatting so he wouldn’t bother anyone else. I called him a crook and warned him that Karma would catch up with him one day. Not sure if he’s got any conscience, but the same number rang me a few times later on, which I ignored. This number has rung me up FOUR TIMES just today. They claim to be some sort of call preference service. I told them THREE times to remove me from their list since I was expecting an urgent call. Got two calls from this number today, 8th Feb 2018 - once around 8:10 and again near 9:20. Both times, when I answered, there was nothing but silence. Proper irritating!

Got a call from a guy named Michael, sounded Asian, saying he's with the Telephone Preference Service. He asked to confirm my address and then if I was the one who pays the phone bills. When he started talking about my card about to expire, I just hung up - totally felt like a scam. What threw me off was the number wasn’t overseas but showed up with our local 0116 code. Usually I don’t even pick up and just block straight away. That number’s definitely on my block list now!

They rang me three times within a few hours. I usually don’t answer numbers I don’t know and just let it go to voicemail. Never once have they left a message! The annoying thing is my landline only lets me block up to 30 numbers, so now I have to keep deleting some to add new ones!

I got two calls this morning from someone claiming they were from the Windows tech team. When I told them I wasn't interested, the guy got really annoyed and started accusing me of my computer being involved in hacking. He even threatened to shut it down, so I just ended the call. Pretty obvious it was a scam because my PC’s still fine and running.

Got a call from an Asian guy claiming to be from Microsoft, saying my computer had issues. I quickly told him I wasn’t interested and hung up straight away.

Haha, someone tried to pass off as the telephone preference service. They asked if I got loads of spam calls, and I said I never do (bit funny, innit?). Then they told me my “subscription” was about to run out tomorrow and started asking for my visa card details to renew it. I wasted about 10 minutes pretending to be interested and messing about before they finally hung up. Can’t wait for them to ring again!
