Upon picking up the phone for this particular call, the caller claimed they could put an end to all my irritating telemarketing calls. I informed them that I'm already registered with the Telephone Preference Service and there really shouldn't be any reason for them to be contacting me. I politely said my goodbyes. Meanwhile, a mate of mine mentioned that she had also received no less than FIVE silent calls from the same number just yesterday! Today, the line was silent again, so I decided to ring back and was greeted by a recorded message stating that the number was no longer in service. So, is this just an annoying telemarketer or an extraordinarily annoying telemarketer?!

Got a call from them at half six in the morning! When I picked up, it was just dead silence.

Got a call last night from a young Asian lady, she said her name was Camilla, sounded alright enough. I told her I was noting the number and blocked it right away, then she hung up. Then at 11:25, another call came from someone named Sam. I asked if he was “Fireman Sam” just to be cheeky. Told him the number was being recorded and blocked, then hung up straight away. He’s blocked now. Older folks might fall for these sorts of calls too easily.

This number has rung me up three times today. The person on the line was just reading a script and didn't seem to get what I was telling him. He claimed to be from the telephone preference management service, which is DEFINITELY NOT the same as the telephone preference service. 05/02/18- Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from TPS. She asked for my card’s expiry date but I said I didn’t have it handy. She then said she’d wait while I found it! I told her I'd verify on the official TPS site since I didn’t see why she needed my info. Ended the call, and she rang me back right away. I ignored it. Later, when I looked up TPS, turns out it was a scam because genuine TPS never ask for personal details like that.

Thick Asian accent like the other calls mentioned here. I just kept replying with “right” and “ok.” He said my card expired back in 2018. Told him I wasn’t interested and to stop calling, though it gave me something to chat about. Really pushy bloke. Hung up, but he called back again. Then I pretended to be my daughter and told them off for worrying my mum, said if they phoned her again I’d report them to the police and ended the call. Besides being annoying, I reckon they could be a real hazard for older folks.

Some bloke with a thick Indian accent, calling himself Stephen, rang my husband about the Telephone Preference scheme. He somehow knew my husband's name, address, and that he pays his BT bill by direct debit. But when he started talking about the debit card expiring soon and needing to update details, my husband got suspicious straight away and ended the call. That number has rung a couple more times since, but we just let it ring out now!

I didn’t pick up when this number called me, but since I’ve got a family member in hospital in Leicester (0116), I decided to ring back. When I did, some American voice told me ‘The number you are calling is no longer in service.’ Not long after, the same number called me again and a woman with an Asian accent started going on about the TPS, my debit cards expiring soon, and said she’d re-register me with the TPS. I was quite sceptical and she just hung up on me. Really hope the Information Commissioner’s Office and Trading Standards look into this lot.
