It's not a scam or anything dodgy, sorry to disappoint. If you have music playing at your workplace, you gotta have a licence for it. It's a pain, but that's how it is. Just do a quick search online and you'll see.

Some lady - total scam it felt like, kept ringing from a withheld number and then dropped the exact same phone number as mentioned here. Kept going on about PRS stuff. What’s happened to this country? In times like these, you can’t even enjoy the radio at home. Seriously, give us a break already!!!

Got a call from someone claiming to be performing rights folks asking for money 'cause I listen to the radio at home. If this is legit, they should be embarrassed to hassle people like this - I'm 79 years old and don’t need this kind of worry in my life.

I got a call from 01162961472. No one was there when I answered. They’ve rung me a few times before but never said anything or left a message. This time was on Wednesday 13th May at about 12.13pm.

Utterly fraudulent call - they rang up and wrongfully claimed that our establishment was playing music. WE DON’T EVEN HAVE A RADIO ON THE PREMISES. Additionally, it was a spammy communication pressuring us for a payment of three hundred quid. STEER CLEAR of these crooks!

Got a call from someone claiming to be PPL/PRS, they asked for our firm by name at the landlords reception, even tho there’s loads of companies here. We always get our Corporate PPL/PRS licence straight from PPL/PRS, never from dodgy call centres without our direct contact details.

0116 296 1472 keeps ringing me over and over about some TV and music licence stuff. I've explained loads of times that we don’t have a telly and we certainly don't play music in public here. Still, they carry on calling, asking the exact same questions. Honestly, their attitude makes me think they’re just dodgy scammers wasting time. They're clearly hoping you'll eventually give in and hand over cash. When I tried ringing back, nobody ever picks up.

I got a call asking if we have music playing in our offices or workshops to see if a music licence is required. I told the caller we don’t play any music or have the radio on. Then they insisted on speaking to a manager or director, saying they couldn’t accept “just some person who picks up the phone.” I honestly thought that kind of attitude was something from ages ago. For the record, I am the office manager, just covering reception now and then for the team.

They asked if we listen to music or have a telly in the office. I told them no, and they went, "Oh, really? Why’s that then?" I said it’s unprofessional, plus I can hear their loud tunes in the background already, making me wanna hang up! She even rang again today, pretending we’d emailed her when I know for sure we never did. Proper sneaky, trying to get through to a Director. You can’t reply to their emails - you have to use their website, which is so not user-friendly and really frustrating!

These dodgy callers have been phoning us nonstop for ages now. The one time we picked up, it was a recorded voice asking for some random person we’ve never heard of to call back. We’ve blocked the number but they’re still ringing us every single day.

The people from PRS PPL calling my salon about a licence are seriously disorganised and unprofessional. I don’t actually work at the salon, so I told my staff to give them my number the next time they ring. I also made it clear that we’ve had the music licence for all our salons since we opened back in April 2019. Even when they got my number and were supposed to call me, they just keep ringing the salon nonstop, annoying my team. I’ve tried ringing their number twice now and no one answers, plus their voicemail is full.

PRS people kept ringing our office non stop, saying they heard a radio playing which was not true. The sales rep was really rude and kept pushing me to hand over my info to buy a licence. Felt like they were brainwashed or something, constantly pestering and even threatening me to pay for stuff I dont require. I'm going to report them to the ICO for harassment as they just wont quit calling.

Got a ring from PPLPRS saying it was about a music licence - apparently if you have music on in your shop, you gotta have one. Had no clue about that, but I don’t even play music there. They did send me a link to some official government website to prove it though.

I received a call from someone claiming that I was required to obtain a music licence. When I requested the removal of my information from their database, they insisted they couldn’t comply without first verifying a number of details in accordance with GDPR regulations. We ended up having a bit of a disagreement, and by the end of it, the chap seemed quite irritated and claimed he would go ahead and delete my data. But honestly, can I trust that? Absolutely not!

Someone called from the name James Fishwick or Phishwick saying we hadn’t paid our licence and claimed they had no records of us. We always pay our bill in January. They kept asking loads of questions, so I told them to check with their finance department to locate our details, and if they’ve lost our info that’d be a GDPR violation. We definitely paid up, felt a bit dodgy, made me quite suspicious. They even dropped our CEO’s name (easy to find online), so watch out for this caller - doesn’t feel legit at all.

Loads of folks and companies ring my husband asking if we have music or radio playing in our upholstery workshop. I said yes, just the radio. Then the caller claimed we need a licence for that if we have staff. Since I was the one who picked up, they assumed I’m an employee (I’m really just the wife). What a load of rubbish that is!

These cold call people have called me about 4 times in the past couple of weeks. I thought it was dodgy since I could hear a quiz show on the telly behind them, so I just hung up when they started talking about fines I supposedly owed for having the radio on in my tiny shop. After that, I got a letter with a bill and all these penalties! I replied explaining I didn’t need a licence anymore because the radio was taken out, but then they sent me another hefty invoice for £274 for next year!

Got a call from ppl prs asking if I had any music playing in my office. I didn’t have anything set up at the time but the person explained how it can really boost morale and that loads of other companies use it. Figured I’d give it a try, and after checking the quote, it was way more affordable than I expected. The whole thing was simple to sort out and I’d definitely suggest giving it a shot.
