Got a call from someone saying it was about a business account. I was like, what business account? I told them I’m not running any business, but they just got all pushy and kept ringing my personal number over and over. Proper annoying!

I got a call on the office line from someone saying they were from 118. They wanted to talk to the business owner, but I let them know they’d need to contact another branch and even offered to give them the number. They refused and just ended the call. Curious, I called the number back, and a voicemail said it was a firm called Discount Utilities. All our numbers for the branch, including direct lines, have been registered with the TPS for ages.

I never picked up when they called, and they didn’t bother leaving a message either. After seeing what others have said about the number, I decided to just block it straight away!

When they asked for the owner of the business, I could tell they were from one of those noisy call centres right away, so I didn’t bother giving any info. I told them we’re listed on the TPS, so they shouldn’t be ringing us. The moment I said that, they just hung up straight away!

If you get calls like this, make sure you report them straight to the ICO. Also, sign up for the TPS - after a month, they’re not allowed to ring you anymore. Keep logging every call you get, it might take time but it really helps in the end.

I've seen a couple of posts on here about how to put an end to all these scam calls. It’s not exactly easy and requires some commitment, but I’ve started reporting every scam call and text I get to the police’s database. Problem is, it’s gonna take loads of people doing the same before any real action happens. Loads of folks report these calls daily on this site though. I even heard back from my MP, which was a bit of a surprise, but sadly, it's gonna need more than just one person asking before we see any changes.

Some bloke called "Patrick" was on the line asking to talk to the business owner. He said he could cut down our phone bills by changing the Open Reach tariff. I told him our phones aren’t even through Open Reach, and then he got all angry and started shouting at me. Proper rude and harrasing behaviour, honestly.
