So Economy Energy rang me earlier. They cold call and try to push these so-called 'smart meters'. What they don’t mention is their smart meter is actually the old V1 model, which most providers don't support now. So if you want to switch suppliers later, you'll probably have to swap it out again. Plus, they're a smaller outfit and not regulated by the usual energy watchdog - speaking from my experience in the energy sector.

Got a call from Economy Energy today. They were doing one of those unsolicited calls trying to push their 'smart meters'. They never mentioned that their so-called smart meter is actually an older V1 model, which most other providers don't support yet. So you'd have to switch back again if you wanted to change supplier. Plus, they're a smaller firm and not overseen by the usual energy regulator - been in the energy sector myself, so just saying.
