Got a call sayin’ a Direct Debit of £158 was put on my card just TWO DAYS ago (!!) and then they said "If that ain’t you, ring this number." Had a look at my card and nah, it wasn’t legit. Was a big headache and pretty stressful tryin’ to figure it out, especially being a pensioner and all.

Received this message on my phone at 18:53 on 26/5/23: “HALIFAX: There’s a new direct debit for £580 scheduled on the 25th monthly for CAR FINANCE GLASGOW. Did you not set this up? If not, call 0115 706 0024 immediately.” I’ve marked it as spam and deleted it straight away. Whatever you do, don’t dial that number! It might be one of those premium rate lines or some scammer fishing for your bank info to nick your money!

Got a dodgy call saying I could get a 30% off with O2. They sent me a couple of texts, one had a code in it. Never give out that code, it’s a trick to sign you up to some dodgy subscription. If you hand over that code, they can pretend your phone number belongs to them and use it fraudulently. Watch out!

Got a call on my mobile today, 30th Sept 2021, around 4:35pm BST from 0115-706-0024. The guy on the other end spoke with an Indian accent and sounded like he was surrounded by loads of background noise, probably a call centre. He said his name was Taylor and said he was ringing from Carphone Warehouse, trying to pitch some kind of special deal. Before explaining the offer, he asked for personal info to ‘verify’ me. Felt dodgy from the start, pretty obvious scam.

Right when my hubby’s phone went off, mine did too - weirdly, our numbers only differ by one digit. His phone showed a number ending in 27; I let mine ring out but he picked it. I got a call from a woman who said she was from Carphone Warehouse, asking if I fancied upgrading to the latest iPhone. I politely said no since I’d only just got a new phone about six months ago. She kept pushing it though. After I refused a second time, she actually called me a “very stupid lady.” I was shocked and asked, “Did you just call me stupid?” and she confirmed it. I told her she’d better end the call right away. Tried calling back after, but it connected me to a completely different company. Definitely not Carphone Warehouse, no way.
