I got a robocall where some recorded voice said it was from HMRC, telling me to urgently call back to talk to “officer dennis grey.” They warned me that if I didn’t ring them, there’d be legal trouble. It’s clearly a scam, so I reported it to HMRC right away through the gov uk site.

I got a call from someone pretending to be an HMRC employee, saying I needed to urgently call a different number. Just so you know, HMRC doesn’t ring up people like that, so it’s definitely a fraud attempt.

Just had a couple of calls to my wife's mobile. Both times it was some automated voice, a woman going on about being from HMRC and identifying herself as 'Dennis' - clearly trying it on. Total scam!

Even with my guard up regarding scam calls, I stumbled into the trap set by these despicable crooks who had the audacity to call from an official HMRC number and sounded incredibly convincing! I'm utterly beside myself with frustration since I ended up handing over some cash to them, and now I'm in the throes of trying to get my bank involved to reverse the transaction and inform HMRC about this fiasco. I can’t believe I let myself get caught out like this; had it not been for the legit-looking HMRC number, I doubt I would have been so easily fooled by these rotters!
