Got a recorded call from 01147001525 with an American bloke saying it was HMRC. He told me to get in touch with my 'lawyer' about some tax issues or they'd arrest me. Thing is, HMRC doesn't just go around arresting folks like that - they'd need a proper court order first. Plus, the way he spoke had loads of American phrases, which made it clear it was a scam.

I've been getting calls from this number, purporting to be from HMRC, threatening me with deportation if I don't respond. I spoke to a gentleman whose accent sounded Eastern European; he had all my details - full name, date of birth, and NI number, which was shocking. He claimed that I owed HMRC money because I hadn’t paid enough tax and insisted I cough up £486.80. He went on to say that if I didn't pay up, the police would come to arrest me and I'd be deported, losing my British passport in the process. This is undoubtedly a scam! It’s outrageous, and the authorities really need to step in, especially since they’re targeting vulnerable elderly individuals as well.

I got calls from this number on both my home phone and mobile, even though neither is listed anywhere! One time a man with an Indian accent told me I was going to get arrested for dodging taxes. Then later, I missed a call on my mobile and they left a voicemail with an automated warning saying I had to ring them back straight away or everything would be stopped and the police would come after me. I’m disabled and these calls really frightened me and made me stress out a lot.

I’ve never given my landline or mobile number out because they’re both supposed to be unlisted, but this number kept ringing me up. On one occasion, a man with an Indian accent told me I was going to be arrested for not paying taxes properly, like fraud or something. Later, they left me a voicemail on my mobile - some automated voice saying I had to get in touch immediately or all my services would be disconnected and I’d be taken in by the police. I’m disabled and these calls really upset me and made me stress a lot.

I received a rather peculiar automated message purporting to be from HM Revenue and Customs, warning me of dire repercussions if I failed to return the call. Naturally, I rang them back, inquiring about the specifics. Being fully aware that HMRC and DWP operate solely during weekdays, I found it suspicious when the chap on the other end was rather evasive. He refused to provide additional details, instead stating that a letter would be sent my way to clarify the matter and outline necessary actions. And just like that, he hung up on me... complete muppet!

Utterly dodgy con artists posing as HMRC! I decided to have a bit of fun with the bloke, gave him a false name, yet he still insisted I had an outstanding debt. Within moments, he was asking for my National Insurance number and home address. I couldn't help but chuckle and told him to take a hike before ending the call.
