Wow, this message really shook me up at first. I've been sorting out some stuff with HMRC lately and have been paying off what I owe. But a couple of things about this call didn’t sit right with me. First, the caller was a woman claiming to be Officer Dennis Gray, which seemed odd. Then, there was this serious warning about what would happen if I didn’t ring back. But the thing that really threw me off was how she ended it with "take care" - it just seemed strangely friendly for a warning like that. That signaled to me that something was off.

Just had a ring from this number. I still send my tax returns the old-fashioned way, on paper through the post. What about everyone else? Anyone noticed a pattern here? Think the post might be getting intercepted or is it just a coincidence? When you write up your report, could you mention if you do your taxes by post, online, or if you’re PAYE? Would be good to know!

Got a voicemail asking me to ring Dennis Grey back urgently. The bloke on the phone, sounded like he had an Indian accent, claimed to be some senior supervisor. He told me I supposedly owed £3,927 from the last five years. I asked him whose name this debt was under since I never gave any info at the start. His reply was “under your email address”. When I asked which email, he just went quiet - clearly not in the script. So I ended the call. I handle my own taxes, so I’m sure everything is sorted. It’s crazy how these scammers even get through to people!

Got two calls within an hour today (26/10/18) from someone claiming to be from HMRC. They said it was really urgent and told me that my lawyer had to ring them back straight away or else I'd face some kind of action. The whole thing felt pretty dodgy and quite intimidating. I got a call from someone called Dennis Grey, saying it was urgent I get in touch or else there’d be serious consequences. It honestly freaked me out a bit. I told my partner about it, and he decided to call the number back. An Indian bloke picked up, and my partner quickly said it’s obviously a scam and we’re going to report this to the fraud authorities, then he just ended the call. Got a call from someone called Dennis Grey, saying it was urgent to get in touch or else there’d be trouble. It was pretty worrying at first. I told my husband about it and he rang the number back. Some guy with an Indian accent answered, and my husband told him straight away it’s a scam, that we’re onto them and the fraud squad will be involved. Then he just hung up. Over the past couple of days, I’ve had three calls from different numbers with a recorded message claiming HMRC had a warrant for my arrest. This morning I got a couple of dodgy calls, one was a recorded voice telling me I had to get back to them quickly, said something about HMRC and to ring Dennis’s office. Then an earlier call came from 02392161231 with a very similar message. I’ve sent both to [email protected] to report the scam.
