Got a call from a Sheffield number with a voicemail threatening legal action. I tried ringing back but used 141 to hide my number, yet the call just got cut off immediately. Ended up blocking the number.

Got a call saying I’m owed a refund of £582 from tax over the last five years. I told them I haven’t paid any tax in that time since I’ve been abroad and if there was a refund, to send a letter with a cheque. Then the bloke just said "you can just hang up now," and ended the call. Proper funny!

Got a call on my mobile from some scammer using an automated system, saying they were from the tax office. Thing is, the tax office doesn’t even have my mobile number. I’ve reported it to the ICO - reckon everyone should do the same to put a stop to these nasty cheats.

Wasn't able to pick up when they rang, but caught bits of a voicemail saying I had to ring them back or they'd take legal steps. I've since blocked the number.

I got a call saying I was owed £582 back, which I suspected was dodgy right away. I played along for a bit before telling them what a load of tossers they were, then they just hung up. I rang back and they told me to sod off! Honestly, it was hilarious. Looks like I’ll be ringing them all day just to mess with those muppets. What a shower of absolute wankers.

i got a call too, they were asking all about my card info supposed to be for some tax refund or something like that.

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, saying I was owed a tax refund. They threatened me with prison if I didn’t hand over my card details. Absolute muppets, honestly.

I got a call from this number where a chap with an Indian accent was pretending to be from HMRC. He told me I was due a tax rebate of £582 and said I could receive it in one of three ways: on my bank card, some goverment-issued debit card (not sure what that is), or via PayPal. The call dropped, so I dialled them again, but then they asked me who I was. I just said they had rang me a few minutes ago before the call ended suddenly.
