I got a call like that earlier this afternoon before I went out. I couldn’t catch a word they said as the line went dead right away. After reading through these comments and figuring out what it probably was, I’m relieved I didn’t bother returning the call and just deleted it instead.

When I was a teen, I was in a bad car crash, and calls like these really trigger my PTSD. Every time they ring, I ask if they can take me off their list, but they just hang up on me. It’s awful how they do business like this. I want to report them but the number’s not one I can dial back, and my head injury means I forget the company’s name. I’m gonna check through the comments here now to see if anyone else has remembered or mentioned the name, so I can finally complain. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences here.

I received a voicemail on my phone from an automated message saying something like, “This is about a serious matter that needs your urgent attention. Please contact Sarah Wilson’s department at HM Revenue & Customs on 0114 360 6421 immediately. If neither you nor your solicitor gets in touch, be prepared for legal action.” Glad I looked it up online before calling back - it’s definitely a worrying message, even though it’s just a robot voice. I’ve also reported it to HMRC.

Beware of IQOR, an American firm pretending to represent HMRC Blackpool. They say you owe money and tack on a £10 daily fine until you pay everything. I sent them a cheque with some digits scratched out and signed it "Mickey Mouse Scam." Hilarious, they never contacted me after that. Got a similar call from someone named Sarah Wilson, claiming to be HMRC Sheffield. Just like all the others. Seriously, don't get caught up in this. It's a total SCAM!!

Had a call from this number askin for Officer Sarah Wilson. I phoned back and asked for her, but was told she was busy in a meeting. Didn’t catch the name of the person I spoke to, but they said I’m in big trouble over tax fraud. They asked if I’d spoken with my solicitor and when I asked why I’d need one, they just hung up on me. Got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, saying I owed nearly 4 grand and that they'd arrest me in a couple hours for defrauding the government. Then, out of nowhere, another call from the so-called ‘Bradford office’ on 01274 792457 saying I actually owed 4998! When I called them out on the differing amounts, the guy claimed there was some error and I had to pay the 4998 to their office. Told him they'd be closed by now and they threatened arrest, he just got annoyed and hung up. Quite a laugh, so go ahead folks, have a bit of fun wasting their time!

I could’ve asked to be connected to the fraud team or something. FYI, actual HMRC numbers usually begin with 03000, like many other official government calls. This was definitely a scam! When i called back to find out what was going on, they told me to give them my "full attention and not to interrupt".
