On the 7th of January 2017 at about 10.18am, this person called claiming to be from Road Traffic Management, saying someone in my family had been hurt in an accident. I wasn’t having any of it and told him to jog on before hanging up. These kinds of calls really need to be stopped.

Got a call from some Motor Investigation Bureau bloke, sounded American. He said I’d been in a crash sometime in the last couple of years. I told him I don’t even drive, no car, and definitely haven’t had any accidents. Then he asked why he had my details at all. I said clearly someone’s feeding his company fake info, and I’m well fed up with these calls. He promised he’d fix it! I thanked him and hung up.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the "accident investigation team" saying I was involved in a crash within the past couple of years. I told them I hadn’t had any accidents recently, and the guy was like "Really? Are you positive?" Made me wonder if I’d forgotten something! I got a call from someone claiming I’d been in an accident within the past couple of years, but wouldn’t share any info, saying it was confidential. I asked for my name since they had my number, and also wanted details like the car registration, make of the vehicle, and the other person’s name. They said they couldn’t give anything until they confirmed I was the right person because there's a compensation letter to send. I told them it sounded like they’d just randomly rung me hoping I’d admit it. Then, surprisingly, the call just got cut off on me!

Got a call from a chap named Dominic claiming he’s from some Accident Investigation Dept, asking if anyone linked to my number’s been in an accident over the past three years. This was after I’d already had calls from two other companies dealing with accident compensation, one of which told me to shut up when I asked where they got my details from. I’m registered with the TPS and my number’s ex-directory. Reported them through the TPS site.

Got a ring from someone saying a relative was hurt in an accident! It was obvious it was one of those accident claim scams. I asked who it was and if they were alright, then the person just hung up. I didn’t waste time and reported it straight away via the online complaints site (you need to sign up, but that’s quick - like 2 mins). These calls are really nasty and can cause a lot of distress. Honestly, they should be banned!

Bloody scammers rang me up at around 10:20 this morning. They said they were from some outfit called Your Legal Friend and even threw out a website that turned out to be complete rubbish. I played the unsuspecting victim and managed to get some info from the bloke on the phone, who had an Asian accent. Apparently, I’d been in an accident in the past two years, supposedly near the town where I live, and he claimed someone in my family was hurt too. Problem is, my last accident was ten years ago, and I don’t have any family. To top it off, he couldn't even tell me my own name, saying it wasn’t on his files. When I tried to pry for more details without giving anything away, I overheard a voice in the background say “cut the call” and then the line just went dead. I feel sorry for anyone who falls for these sneaky bastards.

Got a call from 1641 on Friday 25th Nov 2016. Picked up and said "Hello" like normal. Then after a short pause, someone asked "What do you want?" I replied, and then they said something about an "Accident Helpline" and "we've heard about you". Right then I pressed the block button on my phone's attached gadget, so now this number's stuck in the blocked list and won't bother me ever again. Got a call about some accident claim. I asked who they were trying to reach, but he said he’d need me to verify my identity first “due to data protection rules.” I said that same rule meant he had to tell me the driver’s name, the car’s registration, and when the accident happened before I’d say anything. Then he just kept going on about some “accident fine” we supposedly owed, but he could help us get compensation. At that point I was done and told him not to bother calling back if he wasn’t going to give me any legit details. Definitely a scammer.

Got a phone call from someone saying they were from A&E, sounded like an Indian accent. I didn’t hang about - told him to get lost straight away because I knew it was a scam. I’ve had calls like this before, ones pretending they’re from Microsoft.
