I got a call from some automated voice telling me my account was going to be shut down and to press 1 to talk to someone. I Suspected it was a scam straight away, but I still pressed 1 just to see what would happen. Then, some person came on and started asking for my bank info. Just a heads-up regarding removing your number; putting in a request can actually let these nuisances know that your number is still in use. It's much like those dodgy emails that say “click here to unsubscribe”, only to have you confirm your email address. Your best bet is to register with the TPS and make the most of those pesky cold calls; playing the Yes game can be a right laugh-just agree to everything until they ask for payment or personal info, then flip the script! Unfortunately, there’s no TPS for emails, so you’re left to set up a proper spam filter and just ignore all the rubbish that comes your way. Whatever you do, don’t engage with it, or you might just end up asking for more torment!
