Some bloke called saying he was with a firm offering grants to upgrade homes. He reckoned you didn’t need to be on benefits to qualify, even though initially I thought you did. I told him I wasn’t after anything anyway, but then he tried to convince me I could get double glazing and new doors. I just told him no thanks.

I heard that some employees from Safestyle actually left and started another glazing firm called Safe Glaze around Bradford, West Yorkshire, but it got closed down later on. Since then, I’ve had loads of annoying calls and scam texts, and there was even a dodgy try to hack into my bank account.

Someone rang my mum and started giving a really muddled explanation about who they were and why they’d called. When she asked him to clarify, cos she couldn’t make head nor tail of it, he just hung up on her.

I told her that real companies don't make calls like this. Then I ended the call and blocked the number. The only place they could have got my info from is Safe Style, another firm I’m definitely steering clear of from now on.

So I got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent, right? I kept pressing him to give me my personal info, but all he could tell me was my surname and address. I said, if you really know who you’re talking to, then answer my simple questions! Told him I’d look his number up online and bet it would come up as a scammer. Seriously folks, don’t just take their word for it - push them to give you plenty of details about you. If they can’t, they clearly don’t have your real info like proper companies you deal with do.
