Pretty obvious a scam call from the start. You can hear loads of chatter in the background, like they’re making a bunch of calls all at once. Then they hit you with the classic line, “Is this John Smith?” They might get lucky if that’s your name, but if not, they quickly move to “Oh, sorry, what’s your name then?” When I pick up unknown numbers, I never give my name. The moment it sounds dodgy or like a scam, I just hang up and block it straight away. Hopefully, these con artists don’t get too clever, but it pays to stay alert.

I picked up the phone but they just cut me off, so I tried ringing them again. When I answered the call, they began asking loads of questions about my house like it was some kind of survey. Once I told them I don’t actually own the place, they sounded annoyed and ended the call.
