Got a call from someone calling himself John with the Equity Release Group. He was asking about my home's energy efficiency and trying to push equity release as a way to pay for improvements. He claimed he was ringing from South London, but the phone number he used was actually from Leeds. Watch out for these sorts of dodgy calls!

A couple of comments down from here, I’ve shared some tips on how to deal with these scam calls. If all of us, the thousands caught by these calls and messages here in the UK daily, actually follow through, I reckon the police and government would be forced to take more serious action to stop this nonsense. Don’t rely on anyone else to sort it out. It’s honestly not that time-consuming. I’ve bookmarked the ‘action fraud’ site myself and even dropped an email to my MP - got a rather surprising reply too. But it’s pointless if just one person bothers.

This number called me about some kind of Medical Alert thing and when I asked them what made me qualify for it, they just hung up on me. Pretty sketchy if you ask me.

Some bloke calling himself "Alex" from "the Solar Centre" rang me up asking if I’m still "the owner" of "the property". Funny thing is, he tried that exact line a few weeks back but from a different number, 02039308736. I’m just ignoring him dead silent now, hoping I can tie up one of his lines for a while and maybe get my number flagged as spam or something.

He’s tried the whole driveway centre thing, loft insulation, condensation - now he’s onto some solar panel scam. Honestly, he’s a right pain. I find the best way to deal with him is just to keep chatting away and waste as much of his time as I can. Maybe if enough people do that, he’ll realise scam calls don’t pay off after all.

Got a call from this number earlier, some bloke named John claimed he was ringing from "Medical Alert Services" to try and sell me an "Alert Fob" for people over 50. It didn’t sit right with me, and when I asked for more details about the company, he got all dodgy and started being rude. Ended up hanging up on him. Looks like from other comments, this number's linked to various scams, so I’m guessing these types are targeting older folk and those who might be easy to fool.
